We stayed for two nights at Kilmokea Country House and throughout our stay we were wowed by the beautiful house, the comfortable bed, the superlative food and wine, and the incredible, magical gardens. As keen cooks and gardeners in our leisure time while we appreciated the tangible splendours of Kilmokea, it was the notable welcome, hospitality and warmth of both the hosts and their small number of staff that made our stay so memorable. Everyone was so genuine, obliging and friendly, we were made to feel entirely at home. The reasonably priced ‘honesty bar’ in the library is a really lovely touch which allowed us to fix ourselves an apéritif before dinner (perhaps a digestif after) and it was something which we’d never seen at a guesthouse before. The indoor, heated, swimming pool afforded us a rejuvenating swim after a long day of driving and the lush, otherworldly gardens are a tonic in themselves. A stroll in those amazing gardens followed by twenty minutes just sitting in the Loggia reading or listening to the trickle of water and bird song is one of those very simplest of pleasures. Finally, an aromatherapy session with Emma marked a very restful end to a supremely relaxing couple of days. We can wholeheartedly recommend that anyone considering a stay at Kilmokea should do so with the utmost confidence. You’d be hard pressed to find a warmer welcome at the most humble of family run B&Bs, or indeed a more comfortably appointed room, better service or superior food at the very grandest of Ireland’s hotels. Thanks so much to all at Kilmokea. Five Stars / Cinq Etoiles!

We went to Kilmokea for a weekend getaway and the choice couldn't have been better. The manor itself is amazing (our room was outstanding and kept in authentic style). The time you can spend to visit the superb gardens is never enough. Mark and Emma are wonderful hosts, completely devoted to hospitality and make you feel welcome in a very relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended!

I can't say enough about our visit to Kilmokea! From the lovely house and unbelievable garden to the accommodations for our dietary restrictions to all the recommendations and directions for places to visit. I only wish we had more time there! Emma is a great chef and Mark is a treasure. We can't recommend more highly and hope to return in the not so distant future!

We had such a lovely time at Kilmokea, I really cant praise it enough. The food was beautiful. I'm a total foodie and everything was so fresh and homemade (the cakes!!), you could tell a lot of love and care went into everything. The dinner was 50 a head but when you consider the beautiful freshly prepared food, much of it grown on site, the gorgeous dining room and the fact we were seated beside a fabulous bay window overlooking the gardens, I think its well worth it. An incredible amount of work has gone into the gardens and it would be a wonderful place to bring children but as adults we really enjoyed it. It was very peaceful. It was important for us to be able to bring our dogs away with us, they are pretty young and a bit of a handful. There were lots of other dog owners around including Mark and Emma. Our dogs had the best time, we brought them for lots of walks and then they could use the fields for a bit of a run around. Then they slept all night from exhaustion. All of the staff were very friendly and very good at what they do, one girl reserved a really lovely table for us for dinner (she suggested it) which was very sweet of her. Emma and Mark were so accommodating to us for our entire stay and made us feel super comfortable. Im not usually a fan of B&B's as I feel like I'm intruding but I felt like I was really welcomed into their world and home for a few days. I would definitely recommend Kilmokea for people that want to switch off and get away from it all. Leave the laptop at home, turn off your phone and enjoy the scenery. There was a real substance to the place, it has beauty, soul and warmth that is a rare thing.

Kilmokea was a beautiful place to get away for a quiet and relaxing weekend. The house itself is lovely and feels like a home away from home. It is also based on 7 acres of grounds which are amazing to walk around and the gardens are in amazing condition. The rooms in Kilmokea are very large and welcoming and the hosts are super friendly and happy to advise on anything and very easy to talk to and relax with. There is also an "honesty bar" where you can make your own drinks and relax in the evenings. If looking for a relaxing weekend away this is the place to go (also there is a pool, sauna and jacuzzi which are well-kept and very quiet). I could not recommend this place more for a nice relaxing break in the country! Thanks Emma, great to meet you!

Response from Emma:
Thank you so much Mark. Regarding our Honesty Bar pricing, we are pub pricing not hotel pricing. €3.50 for a spirit and €1.80 for a mixer. Good value we feel, cheaper than most places.

In Kilmokea Country Manor begann unsere Irland Reise. Herzlichen Dank!
