Interaction with guests
We are a friendly family and you can be sure of a warm welcome from Michelle, Sanghajit and our two boys.
Michelle is passionate about travelling and loves meeting people from other countries and other travellers. Having lived in several countries she understands what it can be like arriving in a new country. Sanghajit has a very relaxed personality and naturally gets on with everybody!
Our boys will probably want to talk and play with you but they will equally leave you alone if you prefer that.
There will always be someone around to help, give advice or recommendations and have a chat. If you prefer to keep yourself to yourself that is completely fine with us too.
We love living in Loughton for so many reasons!
•Attractive nearby towns of Waltham Abbey, Epping, Chingford-home of the Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge and in Greensted-juxta-Ongar where you will see the oldest church in England-1200 years old!!

Other things to note
Due to us recently changing to a vegan diet and a majority of guests not eating breakfast (therefore we have a lot left over that we cannot eat) we have decided not to provide breakfast as standard. It will be available upon request at no extra charge. Typical items include cereal, bread with spreads, yoghurt, fruit. It is self-service. Please let me know before your arrival if you would like breakfast.
Based on guest feedback we feel that If 4 adults would like to stay we recommend a stay of a couple of nights only. This is taking into account the size of the room, use of a sofa bed and having to squeeze round the shower door!
The room is a converted loft room. The ceiling is therefore lower than the average room and therefore may not be suitable if you are particularly tall. The distance from floor to ceiling is 6ft 4inches. There is also a beam of a few inches to duck under to enter the shower, however once in the shower the ceiling height reverts back to a height of 6ft 4 inches.
There is no longer a TV in the lounge as pictured.
We expect the room to be kept clean and looked after.
We request that noise is kept to a minimum in the evening.
Please leave outdoor shoes in the porch.
No smoking as well as non smokers please.
Cancel up to 7 days before your trip and get a 50% refund plus service fees back.
We are Michelle and Sanghajit and we own our home, which we share with our two young sons. We have lived here for several years now and were initially drawn to Loughton as we loved how accessible places are, the “balance” of city and country life and for its family, friendly feel. We are on both the M25 motorway, which circles London and the M11, which allows direct access to Luton and Stansted airport in half an hour and Cambridge in one hour.
The tube is under a 10 minute walk away and being on the Central Line means you don’t even need to change trains to go straight into the most popular places in the heart of London.
Whilst we have all this” on our front door” as it were, what we actually have is lots of open space, parks, greenery and an enormous, enchanting forest that attracts thousands of visitors all year round. What I also discovered just recently is we are living right by the world’s oldest wooden church! It is one of the most beautiful, spiritual buildings I have seen.
What about us?? Well I am English, originally from Kent and Sanghajit is Australian. I absolutely adore travelling and have lived, worked and travelled in many countries. I painfully miss travelling and being immersed in different cultures and languages so Airbnb for me is so wonderful and makes me so happy to welcome people from all around the world into our home- It feels like a tiny bit of me is still travelling! Foreign languages have always been my biggest passion and I studied these right through to university whilst also using them in my career as a project manager in the translation industry.
I am now a full time mum to my boys whilst managing our guest room and if I do get any free time I like to meditate, practice yoga, cook and generally learn how to be more a more mindful individual!
Sanghajit was initially brought to the UK by both me and cricket! The latter has been a passion since childhood along with surfing, two very typical Aussie interests! He is a nurse by profession and is the ward manager of a palliative care/end of life unit in a London hospital. Sanghajit is an ordained Buddhist (hence his name), actively part of the London Buddhist Centre. He has built a cabin in the garden for meditation and holds classes there free of charge.
We are a vegetarian/vegan family and enjoy healthy eating, cooking and growing our own fruit and veg. We are always working on a DIY project around the house and Sanghajit’s latest is transforming discarded timber into furniture!
You will find our home to be organised, clean and calm. I am told it is very English, homely and comfortable!
Ultimately though it is a family home and our boys are at the centre of it. They are friendly, confident, positive and kind boys who love having guests come to stay. I prefer to let them introduce themselves more fully to you when you meet them though!
The way we view hosting is when you stay with us you become part of our family and we are living as housemates together-sharing the space and respectful of one another.
