"A piece of heaven" "An absolute gem"
"A cottage which is a home"
"A little piece of Paradise" "I'd go back in a blink"

The space
Paradise Cottage is 370 years old – the oldest house in the village of Golant. It's made of cob – which is a technical term for rocks and earth – so the walls are curvy. It's where I grew up and where my bohemian parents lived – a place for music, conversations, art, poems.

Recently refurbished, it has a new period style kitchen equipped so you can cook ambitiously – and a dining area. The living area has a log fire and big HD TV with online channels – comfortable for 4, 5 at a squeeze. The bedrooms reach into the eaves of the roof. The bathroom is really quite designer!

The upstairs layout is quirky – with the middle 'owl' and rear bedrooms and the bathroom accessed through the front, riverside bedroom. The rear, garden bedroom you reach either through the bathroom – or independently through the French windows onto the garden. The 'owl' bedroom and its queen size bed are compact – ideal for 1, 2 at a squeeze.

Guest access
You can use the whole house. And the garden as well which is big - with a meadow.

There's a lower patio which is a sun trap with a BBQ. And new decking with views of the Fowey estuary – an officially designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – from which to have an evening drink or morning coffee.

If you go further up the garden you get to have an even better view of the river and the village as a whole.

There's plenty of room to park even an SUV off-road. You can fit 2 cars one behind the other, if you park carefully.

Other things to note
We always find it frustrating if we have to buy oil, salt and pepper etc when I’m travelling. So feel free to use ours – and the herbs and spices, and vinegar, sauces etc. We'll also normally leave tea and coffee.

There are other hints and tips on the ParadiseGolant page on the well known social networking site with initials F & B which you can find with any popular search engine!

So we can accommodate both a Xmas and New Year booking what we do is split the period into two blocks:
- 21-27 Dec
- 27 Dec-2 Jan
And accept bookings of minimum 5 nights in each block
