The Space

"A treehouse, a freehouse, a secret you and me house, a high up in the leafy branches, cosy as can be house" -- Shel Silverstein

The treehouse is indeed a cozy little place perched on four maples 30 feet above a blanket of ferns. Access is by a ramp 70 ft. from the main house, where you'll have a private bathroom with shower. This quiet place in the woods has heat, electricity, and a small refrigerator. The main floor has a single bed, or CLIMB THE LADDER to the loft with a queen sized futon and down comforter. Enjoy the comfy reading rocker or sit on the deck and gaze at Mt. Abraham and the Green Mountain National Forest. The hot tub is a sweet new addition to the place.

For those less adventurous, there is a guestroom in the main house with a double bed. We have no pets and are very neat and tidy but you can bring your dog if you want. All linens and little complimentary toiletries are provided, and you'll enjoy a generous continental breakfast in the sunny dining room in the morning.

  • We absolutely loved our stay in the treehouse! Ellie and H are such sweet, gracious hosts, and the breakfasts they provided were amazing! Mom and I really enjoyed chatting with them over wine and snacks on Friday evening. The treehouse itself is an experience not to be missed! We had beautiful weather on Friday and Saturday and even got to enjoy some time out on the deck reading! Thanks so much for making mom's birthday a memorable one :).

It was our pleasure, Tausha, and great to see you again. Give a big hug to your mom for us!

  • The truth is that there are no words that adequately could describe what Ellie and H did for us and what they were to us. From the first moment we got to Fern Forest, we were welcomed with warm greetings from both. I went to the Treehouse with the dearest person to my heart and it was among the best memories of our lifetime. Ellie and H, as you'll read below, are examples of simple living and how to live a life of loving, contentedness and warmth. They are examples of how to love and how one human being should treat another. We felt, just like you'll feel without a doubt, as if you've known Ellie and H for years and my wish is that you'll find it hard to say goodbye to them when it's time to leave. And by the time you step into your car and drive off from Tiny Fern, I hope that you'll have a strong sense that you've made two new, lifelong friends that will only wish you success going forward.

This was a vacation unlike any other we've had before. Everywhere we looked in the house, we saw a home that had been put together over the years with a lot of care and thought, each piece of furniture and decoration had its own story to tell. If you're fond of traveling and collecting souvenirs of memories made in your various journeys, you'll delight in seeing the soul we hoped could be in our home when we get to where Ellie and H are in their life.

No review for Tiny Fern can be complete without acknowledging the phenomenal breakfast that was provided to us daily. Ellie and H were well aware of our dietary restrictions and never made us feel like a burden to them. Ellie asked us time and again about what we can and can't eat, after independently studying our religious beliefs and was incredibly excited about trying out new recipes that she had looked up specially for us. Needless to say, we were more than happy to be the guinea pigs. And the blueberry on the delicious citrus yogurt - breakfast every morning was followed by enriching conversations with the wonderful couple while the hours just flew by.

Of all the services or products we've reviewed in our lifetime, we've never felt more strongly recommending something. Do yourself a favor and book this fairy tale getaway for yourself, or for you and a loved one. You're giving yourself an escape from the (often) maddening world we live in, and you'll be surrounded by two calming souls that will shower you with love and make you feel a deep sense of gratification for life.

We will, without a doubt, come back time and again. In many ways, this getaway was the beginning of what we hope becomes a lifelong journey of love, companionship and true happiness.

Warm wishes Ellie and H - Sagar and Jahnvi

  • We loved our stay in the tree house! If you have the opportunity to stay there, take it. The tree house was very cozy, their breakfast was delicious and they were great hosts. We look forward to another stay there sometime soon! And make sure to take advantage of their hot tub and dining recommendations and you'll be glad you did.

  • Sleeping in the treehouse was an awesome and inspiring experience. Meeting H and Ellie was just as rewarding. The breakfast was worth the price of admission too. Enjoy

  • Wow, where do we begin. From waking up to a wonderful breakfast, to great conversation and staying in a lovely treehouse, we wish we the weekend could've lasted longer.

Ellie and H made delicious (gluten-free!) waffles and cornbread muffins, and offered some of the best locally grown food we have encountered.

After eating a delicious dinner at one of their suggested restaurants, the Bobcat Cafe in Bristol (about 12 minutes away), we got to relax in the hot tub while it was snowing. We could not have imagined a more perfect evening.

The lovely couple were so warm and welcoming from the second you meet them. We wish we could spend every weekend in the Fern Forest!

Christy and Tim, thanks for opening us to all things Iowa. I took the "Where should you live" quiz and guess where it decided I should live...Iowa! Guess we'll be going through on our westward journey. It was a true delight to get to know you both, and we hope to see you again soon!

  • Absolutely wonderful stay with H and Ellie! The treehouse is magical, a lovely place for a weekend getaway. It is immaculate and very charming and a great vibe. H and Ellie are incredible hosts and made my boyfriend and I feel right at home. Highly recommended!

  • Luke and I had an amazing time. H and Ellie are great hosts- they made dinner reservations for us, invited us to watch the Patriots game with them, and cooked us a delicious breakfast! This is my second time visiting and I will definitely be back for a third visit.
