Description

The space

Quaint, rustic, and unique, this unattached 2 person cabin/guesthouse offers the unique feeling of living in the middle of the jungle combined with the amenities of everyday living. Eat or nap on the rooftop terrace surrounded by a waterfall and jungle vegetation, bathe under a hot shower in the vaulted bathroom ceilings, warm yourself with a hot chocolate by the fireplace, and cook yourself a gourmet meal with fresh produce and meat you buy in the pueblo.

Guest access

You will have access to free parking and the cabin, along with the pathways to walk surrounding the property. If you absolutely need to use the internet, you can arrange a time with the owner.

Interaction with guests

The cabin is completely private, unattached and cannot be easily seen from the main house. I will be present during your stay, you will see me working the land, riding my bike, or walking my dogs. If guests need any help with directions, tours, recommendations, language, etc, we are more than happy to help as much as possible. Often guests are invited to join the bonfires or barbeques.

The neighbourhood

We are located in a beautiful private gated housing community with 24 hour security and roving surveillance. There are excellent nature walks and epic bike rides just out the front door. It combines the convenience and proximity of living near a major city with the benefits and feel of the countryside or "fincas".

Getting around

We are located on the main road to Medellin 30 minutes from the airport. All public and private transportation to the city or the pueblos passes along this main road. There is free parking close to the cabin. To get here you can take public bus, taxi, private chauffeur, or shared taxi. Very easy to find, buses to the city are $4000 COP, shared taxis are $15,000 COP, private taxi or chauffeur $60,000 COP. Buses to the surrounding pueblos are $ COP (depending how far away the pueblo is).

Other things to note

You need to be able to walk stairs comfortably to reach the cabin.
We can provide firewood if needed, or if you need help with the fireplace.
We offer a huge colombian country breakfast as well as private city tours and bike rides (at an extra charge, ask about prices).
For private security, please inquire directly.
We do suggest guests bring enough groceries for one meal upon arrival, then while you are out sightseeing pick up groceries for the other meals. There are plenty of Mom ´n Pop stores close by and in the pueblos, some of the stores have delivery.
There are great restaurants close by too, everything from 1 - 5 stars, with prices ranging from 1 - 5 stars.
We also advise people to bring cash, albeit many (not all!) of the restaurants and shops now accept credit cards.

My husband and I stayed at the cabin for a late honeymoon. The cabin and surrounding area was beautiful, the pictures don't do it justice. Matthew was the perfect host. Our flight was delayed by 9hrs but Matthew was in constant contact with us helping us along the way. He had great communication and made us feel right at home when we got to the cabin. When we got there he had great recommendations and told us how to get around easily and safely. All in all we could not have asked for a better trip.

So, where to begin... The place is absolutely amazing, feels like you are in the middle of the jungle, away from everything. Perfect place to relax, enjoy the nature, breathe.if you want to go to the city center, it takes just half an hour. Matthew is the best host ever! Our luggage was lost and he went out his way to help us, he was really welcoming, helpful and he made the whole experience there even better. We liked it there so much, that we changed our plans and came back for a few more days. Some of the best memories from Colombia are from Medellin and Matthew and his place. Sara and Marko

This was my second stay at the cabin. Matt´s a great host, we bonfired and chatted for a long time, and the barbeque we had was awesome. The place is clean and I love the open shower concept. The best way to describe this place is Avatar. If I come back this is the only place I´ll stay.

Matthew was the perfect host. He truly went above and beyond. Not only did he give my girlfriend and I a complete list of things to do in Medellin, but he arranged travel for us to and from the cabin at the same rate as a taxi would have been. He was extremely welcoming and it felt like I was seeing an old friend, not meeting a host. The property is incredible. Medellin is an incredible city. While the cabin is approximately 20-30 min from the city it is completely worth it. We did not want to leave. The pictures do not do it justice, and I don't think it is possible to take pictures that would. This was the most incredible place I have ever stayed with the most incredible host imaginable.

I´m an ex international teacher for 9 years, but I left because I always wanted to host people at my cabin. I love working outdoors on my land and being around my wife and dogs. My hobbies including gardening, hiking, cycling, skydiving, SCUBA diving and reading. My wife and I are both fluent in Spanish and English, I am also fluent in German (besonders Badisch und Schwaebisch).
