This is the entrance to the guest room. It is a self contained unit with its own kitchenette and shower.
The small valley has squirrels, Guinea Fowl families roaming the road, Egyptian Ibises, a couple of barn owls and the odd neighbourhood dogs and cyclists.

The neighbourhood

Higgovale is one of the most beautiful suburbs of Cape Town. At least one house in the neighbourhood has won several architectural awards and features in Architectural books worldwide. We are situated across the road from a small valley belonging to Parks and Forests.
You can walk to Table Mountain nature reserve or for an easier walk, go to Deer Park where you can swim in a natural pool.
We are at walking distance from trendy Long Street and Kloof Street.
Eat at any of the many fashionable restaurants nearby: Pizzas at Baccini's, coffee and cake at Melisa's or at Mana's and a healthy meal at Licorice & Lime.

Getting around

You can walk or ride to Town or to Table Mountain or the Camps Bay beach using the nearby public transport. Taxis and Uber are available as well. We like using the Rikki's as they are safe and sometimes have fixed rates depending on where you want to go.

For your convenience, we keep BUS CARDS for you to borrow. Please reload them before you return them to us at the end of your stay.

Other things to note

We wake up early during the week because we work from home but on the weekends we like sleeping late. Bernard is an early riser and he goes cycling with his friends.
As we work from home, it can get noisy at different times of the day, especially in the mornings but then it gets quiet again.
Weekends are very quiet. Some guests find a rock or tree trunk in the valley to sit down and drink their coffee and enjoy a moment of peace.
There is plenty of parking in the street.

I was born in Argentina. I paint oils, portraits and city scapes and I write occassionally. I like Architecture very much. I am a painter but I am more likely to make an effort to see a building rather than to visit an art gallery. Don’t ask me why. I am a Toastmaster and I am learning Italian too.

I love Cape Town and it’s mountains and oceans. I like it’s relaxed atmosphere and it’s people’s individuality. To live here is like being on holiday all my life.

My husband Bernard is a cycling fanatic, both road and mountain. Bring your bicycle and be prepared to be dragged up the mountain by him. He is also a Spinning instructor at the gym.

My son Joel designs computer games and plays the piano. He likes walking in nature. Ask him to take you to Deer Park Forest for an easy mountain walk.

They are both born in South Africa.

We all like science fiction. We like Star Trek more than Star Wars but we enjoy both. My favourite captain is Picard, followed by Janeway or vice versa. Darth Vader was great when we didn't know what he looked like.

We work from home so knock on the office door if you need anything.
