Description

The space

Our recently remodeled 4 bedroom, 2 bath quaint beach duplex has all the amenities you need to settle right in and feel ‘at home’. With a total of 1500 sq ft, this upper floor unit can comfortably accommodate two families. We prefer children over the age of 5 for the consideration of our lower unit guests.

Take your pick of the huge 500 sq ft master bedroom with king size sleigh bed and private en suite bathroom with double vanity and laundry, the Tommy Bahama room with 4 poster queen bed, the Mermaid room with a queen bed or the surfer bunk bed room with 2 twins and 1 full bed for the kids. All bedrooms have new mattresses and quality linens plus ipod clock radios.

The gourmet kitchen is fully equipped with dishes and all the cookware you need to prepare a family meal or a gourmet feast with bar seating, a fold out dining room table or dine al fresco at the picnic table outside with seating for 8.

Enjoy morning coffee or a glass of wine at sunset from the comfortable balcony filled with rattan & bamboo furniture, flowers and a BBQ. After a long, peaceful day at the beach, relax in front of the 2 flat screen TV’s, one in the living room (52” with DVD, CD, surround sound and Ipod dock) and one in the master bedroom (47”).

Just relax and rejuvenate every day as you watch sailboats drift by and dolphins play in the surf. Enjoy long walks along the beach and swim and play in the Pacific Ocean steps out your front door. Take a yoga class on the beach while watching and listening to the sound of the calming ocean waves, or take an easy bike ride to Manhattan Beach or Marina del Rey. Watch the sunset after a perfect day at the beach or walk down the street to enjoy one of the many local restaurants. Sleep peacefully to the sound of the ocean waves.

Close to the many attractions in Los Angeles, enjoy a day of exploring and sightseeing. Los Angeles Intl airport is 6 miles away. You will be only 4 miles to Marina del Rey and Venice Beach or 6 miles to Manhattan Beach, 6 miles to Santa Monica, 15 miles to Hollywood, 20 miles to downtown L.A., 24 miles to Malibu, 35 miles to Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm or 25 miles to Universal Studios, and a 90 minute ferry ride to Catalina Island.

Whether you are interested in a family getaway with the kids, family reunion or a romantic quiet rendezvous at the beach, we look forward to hearing from you so that we may share our little piece of ‘paradise’ with you.

While we love families/gatherings, we do not allow large groups or parties:)

Interaction with guests

We are very 'hands on' owners and like to meet each guest at the property when you arrive to do a walkthrough and answer any questions. We live close by so are always available for any questions or problems should they arise.

The neighbourhood

Playa del Rey is a sleepy little beach community known for it’s solitude and ‘small town’ feel. A hidden gem and favorite for L.A. locals since it hasn't changed much in the last 30 years. The beaches never get crowded and there are very few tourists, so if you are looking for a great quiet and family oriented area, you've found your retreat!

Getting around

We recommend the use of a car to experience all the closeby L.A. attractions. Lyft and Uber are also gaining popularity and more reasonable than a taxi in most cases.

Though we love families and small family gatherings, large groups and parties are not allowed for the comfort of our lower unit guests and also long time neighbors. Also, for the comfort of our lower unit guests, we prefer children over the age of 5. No pets and no smoking allowed.

RENTAL AGREEMENT

CHECK-IN TIME is 4 P.M. AND CHECKOUT is 10 A.M. NO Early Check-in or late checkout unless previously arranged.

REFUNDABLE DAMAGE DEPOSIT
A refundable $1,000 damage deposit is required in the form of a credit card authorization. This deposit will be fully refunded by Airbnb unless excessive cleaning is necessary, pets are evidenced, more than the maximum number of guests stay in the unit or any other violations of this rental agreement.

CLEANING FEE
A separate non-refundable post occupancy cleaning fee of $200 is required in addition to the rental rate. You are expected to leave the home ‘broom clean’, which means bagging the trash and placing it in the outside receptacle, filling and turning on the dishwasher, cleaning the BBQ and generally tidying up, leaving no excessive cleaning or major messes for the housekeepers to clean up. If these rules are not followed, an additional cleaning fee may be deducted from the damage deposit.

CANCELLATIONS
50% refund up until 1 week prior to arrival, except fees

**Please be aware at this time, LA City Council is endeavoring to regulate short term rentals. We do not know what the final regulations will require. In the event we are no longer allowed to operate as a short term rental, we have the right to cancel your reservation, at any time, with a full refund provided.

MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY – The maximum number of guests is limited to eight (8) persons (including children). A fee may be assessed and deducted from the damage deposit for any guests in excess of the maximum at a rate of $100/person/day.

UTILITIES - Occupants shall exercise reasonable care not to waste gas, electricity or water. Please turn off lights, heaters, etc when not in use. Owner reserves the right to charge guest for excessive use.

NO DAILY HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE
While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. However, it is available at an additional rate. We do not permit bath towels or linens to be taken from the units, but we provide extra beach towels for your use.

FALSIFIED RESERVATIONS – Any reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and/or rental money, and the party will not be permitted to check in.

PARKING
One parking space is provided (two spaces with prior approval). Vehicles are to be parked in designated parking area only, and could be subject to ticketing/towing if any portion of the vehicle is blocking the sidewalk. Any illegally parked cars, including parking in neighbors spaces, are subject to towing; applicable fines/towing fees are the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner.

*Bikes, strollers or any other guest belongings are not to be left in the common walkway. We have an area on the south side of the building for storage of these items.
 
PLUMBING
Do not flush anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at anytime. If it is found that feminine products have been flushed and clog the plumbing system, you could be charged damages of up to two hundred dollars ($200).

RESPONSIBILITY
The owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occur while on the premises or its facilities and are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guests. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premise.

PARTIES/CONSIDERATION OF NEIGHBORS
Parties or additional guests visiting the property are not allowed, unless previously discussed and approved. Guests shall not conduct any events or activities that might interfere with the peace and enjoyment of the property’s neighbors, including excessive noise after 10:00 PM or before 8:00am. If guests are found to be entertaining more guests than approved by owner in the rental agreement without owner’s prior written permission, or are creating excessive noise after 10:00 PM, guests may be asked to vacate the property immediately, and will forfeit the remainder of the rental as well as the security deposit.

Please be considerate when coming through the walkway late at night or early morning, as well. This building is a duplex with an upper and lower unit, so we ask that guests please respect the lower unit guests, being considerate of noise, voices and children running through the unit especially in the early morning and late night hours. Unruly or loud guest behavior may result in a fine charged against your damage deposit.

Guests shall not use premises for any unlawful purposes, violate any law or ordinance, or commit waste or nuisance on or about the premises.

This is a NON SMOKING unit. Any evidence of smoking inside the unit will incur a cost of $200. Smoking is only allowed on the beach, so as not to bother neighbors in close proximity.

PETS
Unfortunately PETS are not permitted in rental units under any conditions. This rule is to maintain standards for our future guests. If there is any evidence of pets on premises, guests will be asked to leave the premises and forfeit the remainder of the rental and security deposit.

Sherry's place was a perfect getaway for me and my family to spend our 5 nights in LA. First off, Sherry was a great host! She helped settle us in during check-in, and gave us a lot of ideas and suggestions on where to go and what to do. Communication was thorough before and during our stay and we just loved her hospitality. Next, the interior decoration of the room was so unique and well done, I honestly could not find any other listing on Airbnb in LA that I liked better. The Californian-Caribbean-Hawaiian tropical mix was superbly balanced and pretty much every detail was cared for. Location-wise, we literally had the beach in the backyard and the sunset was simply beautiful! The airport is close and you have airplanes flying nearby all day and all night, but the noise didn't bother us at all when we had the windows closed. Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Marina Del Rey, Manhattan Beach, and LAX, and freeway entrances were all easily accessible by car. There were a few local places to eat and lots more in the Marina Del Rey area. One thing I also would like to point out is how clean the place is. Being close to the beach, I was thinking it might be a bit sandy or dusty, but the floors were extremely clean and I even felt a bit guilty leaving the balcony door open to let in the fresh cool ocean breeze. I do have to say it was a bit pricey and I did hesitate a bit when making my reservation at first, but I'm quite sure everyone whose ever stayed here will agree it's worth it! 5 Stars all the way!!!

This was the best stay-cation we could have ever asked for! The home was so comfortable and spacious and had an AMAZING view. Perfect to soak up the sun and watch the beautiful sunsets. Sherry was a great host and checked in and made sure everything was okay. I would definitely recommend staying here, no complaints except having to leave!

We had a wonderful time staying in the house! It's everything you wish for and more for a family trip to LA. To be able to live on the beach and still have easy acsess to the city was perfect for us. The house is very well equiped with a kitchen that has everything you could ever need, there is beach towles and chairs, a big barbecue, the lust goes on.. Bit I think the best is still the vore view, perfect ocean view!

Sherry and her husbond are super friendly and nice people and they made us feel good all the way. The house and the area is just a dream and we fell in love with everything. This is the best experience I have had with AIRBNB ever and I have been a member traveling a lot for years.

We had a great time! The condo is clean and spacious and has just about everything you could think of: laundry, Keurig, boogie boards, etc. You can't really find anything better for that price ON the beach. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within a short walk. It's a perfect place for a weekend away. Thank you!

We had a great time at your Playa Del Rey beach house. It was wonderful to wake up every morning with the ocean right outside the door. The deck is our new favorite place in LA. The beds were super-comfortable, the house easily accommodated all of us, it really felt like home. We were working long days when we were in LA, it was so great to return from work to the oasis of the beach house.
