A very light and lofty living space has been created from the old farm stable on a working family farm situated at the north end of the vale of York close to the County Durham border. Boasting glorious views of the surrounding 240 acres of mixed farmland, including woods and an attractive pond area. The farm is approximately a mile and a half from any public road and is the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful break in secluded countryside with all the luxury of a modern barn conversion.

The space
The Old Stable is south facing, set close to the farmhouse and has its own driveway, entrance, parking and garden areas.
The accommodation is all ground floor. The main entrance of the property is accessed via a garden path from the parking area. A spacious utility room includes Belfast sink, washing machine and dryer also a cloakroom with WC.
A traditional style oak boarded door leads into the very spacious open plan living area complete with original wooden roof trusses and beams. An attractive brick fireplace and log burner take centre stage with large bifold doors leading out onto a sheltered patio area, ideal for outdoor dining in the summer months. The well equipped kitchen area features a large window overlooking pasture land with a traditional kitchen table and dresser completing the ‘Industrial farmhouse style’ of this recently finished barn conversion.
Two bedrooms are accessed from the living area via a small lobby. The master bedroom is very generous in proportion, with a king size sleigh bed and pretty Edwardian wardrobe. It has splendid south facing views of pasture land and the pond/wildlife area. An ensuite bathroom with freestanding slipper bath, separate shower and marble vanity unit completes the luxury of this main bedroom.
The second bedroom is cosy and more modest in proportion having twin beds with generously sized duvets and an open wardrobe area with mirror and dressing shelf. It has a well appointed ensuite bathroom with a spacious shower cubicle and a large window with a deep sill.
The Old Stable has underfloor heating throughout with porcelain tiled floors and decorative rugs. It has been decorated and furnished simply in sympathy with its very rural setting and makes for the perfect romantic retreat or quiet family holiday.

Where you’ll be

Halnaby, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom

Birch Springs Farm is well located for exploring and visiting the surrounding area.

The historic town of Richmond is just a 25 minutes drive. Travel on a little further and discover the beauty of Swaledale and Wensleydale.

Northallerton, also just a 25 minute drive, holds a busy market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It is home to Barker’s department store, and a variety of cafes and shops including the famous Betty’s Tearoom. Just a little further is Thirsk, another market town, leading to the North Yorkshire Moors national park.

The market town of Barnard Castle, a little further at 35 minutes, is well worth a visit to browse an interesting array of individually owned shops including gifts, interiors and antiques. It is also home to the Bowes Museum - an impressive French style chateau built in the 19th century to house the treasures and art collection of John and Josephine Bowes.

Croft Circuit is just on our doorstep, ideal if you would like to visit one of the scheduled events or even book a driving experience for yourself. For those who would perhaps like to venture a little further, the North East coast is not too far for a day trip, as are the cities of York, Durham and Newcastle. These are also easily accessible by rail with regular train services running from Darlington and Northallerton.
