- King size bedroom: spacious, bright, not overlooked.
- Galley kitchen: 5 ring gas hob, American fridge, washing machine, dishwasher
- Lounge: double sofa bed, dining area
- Fabulous rain-effect, powerful shower
- 3rd floor with lovely views over the spires of the city

A romantic and well equipped one bedroom apartment tucked underneath Edinburgh Castle, overlooking Princes Street Gardens. There are fabulous restaurants, theatres, shops and cafes nearby.

It can sleep another two people on the double sofa bed in the living room.

The bedroom has a lovely king-size dark wooden bed which is prepared for your arrival in crisp white sheets. There is a fitted wardrobe and chest of drawers - plenty of storage space. Even though it is so central, the bedroom is very quiet. The flat is not overlooked, giving a feeling of space in the heart of the city. It has a huge window where the sun can stream in, weather permitting! The floors are wooden and there are effective black-out curtains.

The modern shower room has a lovely rain effect shower, with a powerful stream, and a skylight over the shower - lovely in all weathers. There is a huge mirror and slate floors. Towels are provided.

The lounge has a comfortable, large corner sofa which turns into a double bed, so 4 people can stay in the apartment. There are black out blinds on the windows. A flat screen TV with DVD player are provided along with a selection of DVDs and books to borrow / swap. The glass dining table seats 4 comfortably, and provides a good place to work on a laptop.

The fresh, modern galley kitchen features a big American fridge-freezer, a great 5 ring gas hob and oven, a dishwasher and brand new washing machine. There are plenty of pots, cutlery, crockery along with a kettle and a toaster. The floor is slate.

Guest access

The whole apartment is for use by guests. It sleeps two guests very comfortably, plus there is a sofa bed in the sitting room which turns into a double bed so it can sleep four people.

The apartment is self-catering, and has a well-equipped kitchen. There are good shops nearby and don't miss the Farmer's Market on Saturday. There are lots of great local restaurants if you don't feel like cooking.

Interaction with guests

I can be contacted by phone or e-mail if guests require any information prior to or during their stay.

The neighbourhood

The neighbourhood is perfect for holiday makers with everything visitors could wish for. The apartment is tucked underneath the impressive Edinburgh Castle, a vibrant farmer's market pops up on Castle Terrace on Saturdays, and nearby is a fabulous range of restaurants, theatres, cinemas, galleries, shops and the wonderful Princes Street Gardens....

There is a small Sainsburys a short walk away, or the original wholefoods shop in Edinburgh, Real Foods, about 15 minutes walk towards Tollcross.

George Street and Princes Street are very close by, offering good shops and restaurants. Don't miss Edinburgh's West End, or Grassmarket areas for more quirky shopping experiences.

I am happy to offer suggestions for restaurants prior to your stay, or have a look on The List website for reviews and listings for things to do, shows, comedies as well as great places to visit in Edinburgh.

Getting around

Edinburgh is a very walkable city, and there are lots of public transport options too:
- Tram stop at Princes Street West End is about 5 minutes walk.
- Plenty buses on Lothian Road and Princes Street.
- Waverley and Haymarket stations are about 15 mins walk, or ~£5 in a taxi
- Taxi rank outside the Sheraton on Lothian Road, 2 mins walk
- Free parking available on the street, on single yellow lines or parking spaces after 6.30pm and before 8.30am. Outside of these times, there are a few pay spaces opposite the apartment, or the Castle Terrace NCP car park 100m from the flat, towards the Castle.

Other things to note

There are 3 flights of stairs up to the flat, so it is not suitable for anyone who might struggle with these.

Unlimited broadband is available for guests to use. Password is on the wifi unit, which sits on the fridge.

There is a selection of DVDs for you to use, a pile of information about the city to look at, and a book swap - please leave a book if you take a book!

I would really appreciate it if you could leave the apartment as you found it.
On departure, please leave the keys to be left where you collected them.
It is a shared stairwell, so please be quiet when entering and leaving the flat in order not to disturb our neighbours.

No smoking and no pets allowed.

The apartment is not great for young children because there are three flights of stairs to reach it, and inside there is a glass table which looks great but hard to childproof for little ones...and there is only a shower. I think older children should be fine if they are happy to walk up stairs and sleep on a sofa bed!

Thank you very much for looking after our lovely apartment and respecting our neighbours! Best wishes, Laura

Stayed for Hogmanay and everything was great! Laura is amazing with her communication which is obviously a plus when traveling and relying on someone for a cozy place to stay. The flat is in an older building of Edinburgh with its own charm. It is on the fifth floor with no elevator so just be ready to climb with suitcases, shopping bags, etc. Very quiet on the top floor. There's a grocery store just up the street- the Tram, the bus and Waverley Station are a 5-10 minute walk away. Laura met us with a few goodies to welcome us- very kind. Kitchen was fully stocked to include herbs and spices (so check before you go food shopping and buy double the stuff). Clean bathroom, clean bedroom, etc. Absolutely would recommend to anyone. Thank you Laura!

We stayed in Laura's apartment from August - December and had a lovely stay. The place is big and has everything you need for a stay in Edinburgh. The location is great and you can easily discover both old and new town from the apartment.

Laura's flat was the ideal base for our long weekend visiting Edinburgh - immaculately clean, comfortable and centrally located for easy access to all the historical attractions plus shopping at Princes Street! Clear instructions were given on how to check in. On the dining table there was a lovely vase of sunflowers, some shortbread and a bottle of wine. The bedroom was also nice and quiet - really helpful when I had a migraine during the trip. We opted to eat out during the trip - however the well stocked kitchen cupboards did not go unnoticed! The good selection of tea was much appreciated. I will recommend Laura's lovely flat to friends and family and hope to be able to stay again next time I visit Edinburgh.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very convenient apartment! The bed and linens were very comfortable and we liked the freedom of hanging out in our living room and making our own breakfasts. Ideally located for the astronomy conference and for exploring the environs of the city - great food options nearby. We would happily stay here again.

I live with my husband, our baby son and our dog, in a small town an hour from Edinburgh. I love growing vegetables, cooking, walking, swimming, reading, travelling...

I hope you'll like our apartment - we loved living there, and miss it sometimes! It's a really great location in the centre of the city, with so much to do within easy walking distance.

If you think we need to add anything to describe the property more effectively, or there is anything we can do to make your stay even better, please do let me know.

Best wishes, Laura
