The space

Easy parking, washer/dryer, full kitchen, Jacuzzi tub, separate bedroom, all in a fantastic DC neighborhood.

Because I've had A LOT of interest from guests, I'm testing renting to three people. The third person will have a twin bed in a small bedroom right next to the main room for two. It's an extra $49/night. The regular rate, one room, up to two people is included in the listed price.

Questions? Just ask.

Guest access

Bedrooms and bathrooms are upstairs. Upstairs, you'll have access to laundry, your bathroom and bedroom. Downstairs, you'll have access to everything: The living area, kitchen, backyard, deck, etc.

Interaction with guests

Interaction is up to you. I'm happy to help with ideas and suggestions for things to do, places to eat, how to get there, etc. Or, very little interaction, if you prefer, works for me too. That said, it is a shared space. So, you'll have to see me off and on or hide in your room. Ha ha!

The neighbourhood

The neighborhood is wonderful. It's convenient. Giant Grocery Store, restaurants, fast food, coffee shops, U-Haul (if you're moving?), Home Depot (if you really like tools or home repair?), and more are all within walking distance. For the places you can't walk, getting anywhere you need is easy thanks to its central location.

The neighbors in this diverse neighborhood are great. We have US State Dept employees, to teachers, to politicians, to cab drivers here. And, amazingly, this is DC and we know each other. You're welcome too.

Getting around

Bus stop: Right in front of the house
Capitol Bikeshare: 200 feet from house (super convenient bike rental)
Metro (Red Line): 3 blocks from house
Metro (Yellow and Green Line): 8 Blocks from house
Street Parking: Free w/pass provided by me during your stay

Other things to note

Can you tell I really like the neighborhood?

Also, I know the ad sounds repetitive, but Air B&B gives you a ton of text boxes and I feel obliged to fill them all. So, if you have ideas on making my ad sound better, send 'em to me. I'd really appreciate that.

Secret Special: Book your stay by August 10 and begin your stay by August 14, 2015 and take $5 off per night, $50 off the weekly rate, or $100 off the monthly rate. If you'd like the extra room (for a third person), you can combine it with the offer above and the room will be just $39/night. That's $400 savings for a month's stay! You must mention the special when you inquire about booking or it's not really a secret, right?

If you have the chance to stay with Marty, you will be hooked on Airbnb. He is kind, helpful, welcoming and the perfect host! The room is clean and comfortable, with lots of amenities (basket of snacks and treats for example). Close to everything, easy to drive to, and in a safe, quiet, residential neighborhood. You can't go wrong!

Marty is a great host! He replied to our messages quickly and patiently, Since we were driving to DC, he got us a parking pass. We arrived a bit later than we planned, but Marty gave us warm welcome by showing us the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. He also gave us useful information about dining and grocery shopping. This is a well-kept house. The room we stayed in was not big but it was quite cozy and comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and was equipped with a jacuzzi (although we didn't try it). Marty's kitchen is clean and well-organized, and he was very generous to let us use the kitchenware. We were really happy that the parking spot was just a few steps away from the house. The house was very close to Metro and bus station (about 10-15 mins walk) which made everything pretty easy. Unfortunately, the AC in our room didn't work well. The mechanic said the problem was caused by humidity and replaced the blower so the room cooled down a bit. It rained heavily the first night. The rain leaked in and dripped from the window. We had to use a container to catch the leak. Marty apologized to us the next day. We wouldn't blame him because these problems were not uncommon especially for an old house, and we could see that Marty tried his best to fix it and to give us a comfort stay. Overall, it was a great experience staying at Marty's place.

It's a great house with the large living room, clean bath room and nice bedroom. Marty is a very careful and kind host, he provides the breakfast, waters, towels and cleaning stuff. He not only recommended the restaurant and the sight spots, but also shared the beautiful photos and videos. If you wanna have a nice experience home stay and make a friend, that's a quit good choice!

This was my first airbnb, and it couldn't have been better. Marty was friendly, helpful, considerate and made my stay very comfortable. The room is lovely, quiet, off-street parking available, and has a beautiful new private bath to enjoy as well. The neighborhood is great, easy to drive to, 2 stops on the Metro to Union Station (right next to the Capitol and Mall) and bikeshare on the next block. I would highly recommend this airbnb!

laid back traveler and, now, host. i speak (dabble really) in a couple languages other than english. i've been to 6/7 continents and hope to someday hit antarctica. i'm a good tenant and host...non smoker, clean, i'll respect your privacy, but always available for suggestions and help if you need. i'm big on treating your "stuff" like it was my "stuff" and ask you do the same.
