Kaya Imani is a gorgeous place! It's located right on the beach and has a medium sized swimming pool that’s always cool due to being in the shade. It was excellent value for money and I'd happily recommend it for a scenic and quiet getaway. Pluses: - The staff are amazing! They were friendly and courteous, without being intrusive and so I felt at home and was well taken care of. - Accommodation: the rooms are simple, clean, spacious and have beautiful views from the patio. There are also mobile sun beds for optimal sunbathing as well as patio couches where you can enjoy the sea views while remaining cool. - Kitchen: This is very well stocked but is missing a coffee maker and microwave oven so plan around that. As long as you bring your own food and drinks, you can also get someone to cook for you so you needn't worry about food preparation. - The beach is lovely: clean, white and sandy. However, there is some coral/rocks about 10 meters into the sea so look out for that. There is also some sea weed and sea grass but not enough to take away from an overall great experience. It was also not crowded and you can freely walk at any time of day without harassment from beach boys. Drawbacks: - Insect life: Due to the proximity to the beach as well as the abundant vegetation and rocks around, there is a large number of bugs and geckos. Carry lots of insect repellant/bite cream to combat this. - The location is pretty remote so if you are looking for a lively spot close to restaurants and clubs, this is not the place for you. If like me, you were looking for a quiet getaway for some rest and relaxation then you can find no better spot. - Distance from markets / shops: come with everything you need from Diani / Ukunda as the nearest shops and market are about 40 minutes walk / 15 minutes drive away. - The waves at high tide are quite strong so be prepared for a vigorous work out as you swim in the ocean :-) - Entertainment: There is no TV or WIFI, and the 3G/4G signal is weak inside the house so bring your own books, music, and entertainment. Or better yet use the time to disconnect and savour the peace and quiet. All in all, Eirik is a wonderful and communicative host. I completely enjoyed my stay at the beautiful Kaya Imani and look forward to going back.

If you are looking for a peaceful getaway between a rainforest filled with butterflies and monkeys, and an empty paradise beach: Kaya Imani is the place you are looking for. The rooms are basic and clean, with a descent bathroom and mosquito nets. There is a basic shared kitchen and dining table outside. Unfortunately we weren't able to use the swimming pool but the good care from Mama Alice and Amani made our stay complete. The place is a bit away from the town, which makes it into the nice quiet place it is, but also a bit of a trip to go get basic groceries in town and not the best network for internet on your mobile phone. But if you are in for relaxation and you bring all your food (and anti-mosquito spray!) with you, you will have a great stay for sure. Would definitely go here again!

Response from Eirik Jarl:
Nadiah, wonderful and useful feedback! I agree fully that better info will help, and have instructed Alice/Collin to look into this! I know it is sort of unusually isolated and better preparation for guests to understand that will help!! Thanks for your support and interest, I will be in Kenya/Diani myself in late June for 2 weeks and work on some of these things!

Erikki's place is very nice especially if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful holiday this is the place to be. The beach is only few meters from the house and its private beach no beachboys or anyone who will disturb your peace. The swimming pool is nice you can relax by the pool after spending time at the beach. You can shower outside before you go to your room. The rooms a big and they are self contained. You even enjoy hot shower. I wish I could share some picutures . If you like cooking the kitchen facilities are very good you can cook or grill there is outside kitchen that has everything you would need.. if you don't feel like cooking for yourself you can get a chef for max 5 to 7€ Per day and with this price you get breakfast, lunch and dinner but you must buy the food to be cooked.. fee free to ask anything you want to know about this property. The other thing is transport is not hard to find if you don't have a car you can use some kind of tax that is easy to get with the help of the house keepers.

Kaya Imani was a fabulous and peaceful place to stay to get away from it all. Eirik and Onesmus were communicative and helpful. I wish I could have stayed longer.
