I've spent quite a bit of time in Puerto Jimenez the past two years and this is by far the best place I've found in town. It's got something for everyone from dorms to suites, very relaxed vibes, friendly and professional staff, a great common space with lots of wildlife, and fre…

The location of the hostel was great. It was a short walk from downtown but still entirely immersed in nature. I saw three types of monkeys and bright red parrots on the terrain itself. Just watch out for mosquitoes! They are very present in the living areas and quite voracious. …

It was alright. The location was great, but the smell of mothballs in our room from the unwashed blankets was overwhelming. Check-in wasn't smooth considering I booked and paid with the Airbnb app. I was asked to pay in person, even though I had already paid, and was told my Airb…

Charlie thanks for your great feedback. You were able to pinpoint some problems which allowed us to act immediately. Guest and Airbnb protocols were rediscussed with all office staff. The moth balls are a difficult balance as they are required to help us reduce visiting bats. I've personally okayed three moth balls per bag, anything more is too strong for my senses and anything less has no effect on the bats. We took your advice regarding the blankets the same day, sorry for the unpleasantness, it won't happen again. Your comments were extremely helpful Charlie, so thanks again for your constructive criticism. Andrew

The location is great, make sure to book the A/C units and book a tour if you want to explore Corcovado National Park. Town is quite and good for that part of the country.

This large secluded property has so much wildlife! Some cheeky capuchin monkeys even put on a show for us right in the common area. It manages to have this natural feel while still being a short and safe walk from everywhere you could need to go in Puerto Jimenez. There are rooms…

Response from Andrew:
Thanks for your two visits Maria. It's always nice when guests return. The dorm is getting great feedback and why not, all the amenities of La Chosa at a fantastic price. I think we're going to add another dorm just so we can keep up with demand. It's a struggle with dorm showers, but we'll continue to better the standard as we learn to work with the dorm crowd. Cheers, Andrew
