This cabin is a wonderful getaway. Enjoy the view of Mt. Hood from the hot tub, visit the nearby wineries, and pop into White Salmon or Hood River for dinner or drinks. Pet Friendly. Close to hiking trails, wineries, and town. Great for families!
Because of the elevation of the cabin and chance of snow, this cabin is not always available in the winter months except last minute openings when we know the roads are clear.
Our getaway cabin is a few miles from White Salmon, which is just across the river from Hood River, OR. It feels remote, but it's really not that far out into the wilderness.
The house sits on 5 acres and is adjacent to 190 acres of Paper Company wooded space. Walk around the grounds in the summer and you'll see that it was once a vineyard.
The cabin is newer, clean, and cozy, with 2 bedrooms and 1 full bath upstairs, and a half bath and open kitchen/living area downstairs.
There's a small hot tub on the patio that also has the amazing view of Mt. Hood you see in the photos. Small means 3-4 people can sit comfortably.
1 Bedroom has a King bed and set of twins (sleeps 4), plus TV/DVD player.
2nd Bedroom has 2 Queen beds (sleeps 2-4).
There are heated concrete floors downstairs, and bedroom heating units upstairs. Stays warm and comfy in the winter.
New! Now has air conditioning for those hot summer days, though it usually cools off in the evenings.
Kitchen is well stocked with dishes, wine glasses, pots and pans. There is a coffee maker, coffee grinder, a blender, a griddle, a food processor (in garage), toaster, and a gas grill. You're welcome to use any spices and condiments you find, just let us know if we're running low on something. No guarantees on any specific items, though salt and pepper is a given.
Although the house could officially sleep up to 8, that number is best with a couple of families.
Note that we use this cabin often and have personal items there. It's very clean and there's plenty of space for you and your things, but it's not totally empty.
Inside we have a ton of board games, puzzles, and lawn games for outside. Many guests never leave the property all weekend!
The whole house is yours and it is very private, no other houses are close.
We will send you an email with the key code prior to your arrival.
Interaction with guests
We will communicate with you via email and give you directions, key code, etc. before your arrival.
Other things to note
There is a nice BBQ grill, and TV (but no cable...only movies via Amazon, Pandora, etc. or bring your own.) It's not the fastest internet connection, so if you're planning a movie night, you might want to bring some DVD's.
Please bring your own towels for hot tub (if you're local). We charge a low cleaning fee and don't want to do a ton of laundry.
Note that the hot tub is smallish, great for a few people, but not a large group.
Pets--there's a dog bed in the living room, and bowls for food and water. Please no more than 1 dog unless prior approval. Don't forget to clean up the yard when you leave.
No smoking in the house, please.
I'm originally a southerner but call the Pacific Northwest home now. Portland is really an amazing place to live!. My family and I love the outdoors and to travel to places where we can hike and cross-country ski.
We love the Columbia River Gorge where we have a cabin and visit often. We love to go wine tasting and are members of a few small family-owned wineries in the area, so ask if you'd like a recommendation!
