The space
Renovated in 2022, this 1940 bungalow in an up-and-coming neighborhood has three bedrooms and one bathroom. This house has all the updates you could ask of modern living including new plumbing and electrical systems, updated appliances, internet access, three TVs with Roku, and keyless entry.

Bedrooms 1 & 2 both have a queen bed, a ceiling fan, and a bedside power station for all your devices. Bedroom 3 is upstairs and has 1 queen bed, a bedside power station, and a desk for remote workers. Please note that access to the upstairs is through Bedroom 1. Each bedroom has either room darkening or blackout curtains.

The bathroom is fully stocked with essential personal care items. The fenced-in backyard is huge. A fire pit with plenty of firewood is available for those cold nights. You may even hear live music from the Burl.

The driveway can only accommodate one car and it is extremely narrow. Additional street parking is available. Our elderly neighbor has asked that no one park directly in front of her house as she feels she needs to have that space available for emergencies.

What to expect in the neighborhood.
Over time, some of the houses in the neighborhood fell into disrepair. This house was gutted and we decided to breathe new life into it. A few other investors have followed suit, and Melrose-Oak Park is now truly an up-and-coming neighborhood.

Dozens of our past guests have raved about the house. “Beautiful house in a nice, quiet neighborhood” (Jennifer, March 2024), “The location is close to lots of things to do, a good number also within walking distance,” (Misty April 2024), and “…we felt safe the whole time.” (Hillary, April 2024). In fact, our ratings are the highest in the neighborhood!

The area is great for adventurous travelers who want a place to stay within walking distance to some great restaurants, bars, and music venues in Lexington, such as The Burl (6-minute walk), The James E. Pepper Distillery (10-minute walk), and even Rupp Arena (1.3 miles via the Town Branch Trail). If driving is your thing, then it’s 5 minutes to downtown & Rupp Arena, 10 minutes to Keeneland or UK, and 15 minutes to the Horse Park. Drugstores, gas stations, liquor stores, and a major grocery store are all about 5-10 minutes away if you need to stock up for your stay.

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire house. Bedroom 3 is upstairs, and access to the upstairs is through Bedroom 1.

Neighbourhood highlights

The Wilton Manor is located in a historically working-class neighborhood, which is adjacent to one of Lexington's oldest industrial areas. The area is currently home to a rock quarry and a bourbon distillery dating back to 1879. Until a few years ago the local stockyard was less than a mile away. All these operations, and many others, have relied on the railroads that have run adjacent to the neighborhood for decades.

Over time, some of the houses in the neighborhood fell into disrepair. Our house, The Wilton Manor, has been completely renovated with many modern amenities. Other investors have followed suit, and Melrose-Oak Park is now a truly up-and-coming neighborhood. Dozens of our past guests at the Distillery District Diamond (around the corner) have positively reviewed the neighborhood. "The neighborhood is quiet and those we passed were friendly," (Mandy, September 2021). Eb (April 2022) said they "felt very safe in the neighborhood."

The area is great for adventurous travelers who want a place to stay within walking distance to some great restaurants, bars, and music venues in Lexington, such as The Burl (5-7 minute walk), The James E. Pepper Distillery (8-10 minute walk), and even Rupp Arena (1.2 miles via the new Town Branch Trail).
