This is a family owned cottage that we designed and built ourselves with the help of carpenters in 2008-2009. We expect guests to take good care of it. No more than six guests are allowed.

The cottage will be cleaned by us but you should leave the house in the order it was when you checked in, tableware washed, trash in the containers that are located just outside the mobile gate, and the hot tub securely strapped.

Please do not wash the linens (sheet sets). If you need to change them please use the spare ones in the cabinets/drawers and inform us so we can plan accordingly. We are very particular about how, with what and on which program and temperature they are washed :-)

During the winter you should NOT turn the heaters all the way down when you check out. If temp goes below 0C (32F) the water in the pipes could freeze and the pipes explode.

More details in the House Manual that you get access to when we have accepted your reservation.

Stayed at this cottage in July 2017 with my husband and our 17 year old son. This is a beautiful wooden structure with views of a scenic valley. Not far into the hills, but nonetheless there is a steep headwall with snow in July above. The house is spotless, spacious, stylish, and filled with small, homey touches. It also has character, thanks to the wood crafts done by the owners. Delightful to sit on the porch and look out at the garden & the view on a summer evening. There is a guide to the house with clear explanations for how to use the dishwasher, washing machine, etc. The furniture is comfortable and the kitchen is well-supplied. The hosts were professional and prompt with communications. We will definitely stay again if we have a chance to return to Iceland.

Oddny and Palmi's cottage was the perfect place for our family of 4 to stay in Iceland. It is beautifully set into the hillside and is ideally situated in a quiet area but within reasonable driving distances from many sites we wanted to visit (Gullfoss, Snaefellsnes Peninsula, Geysir, Thingvellir, Vik, etc.). The valley the cottage overlooks is gorgeous and there are views of snow-covered mountains, quiet farmland, and green hills. The views were spectacular. Oddny and Palmi were the perfect hosts and communication with them before and during the trip was excellent. The cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed to feel at home, including toys for our young children. I would highly recommend this cottage and hope to visit again some day.

Our stay here was fantastic! The house more than met our expectations. It was clean, well located for our adventures, and full of everything we needed and more. Staying here was like staying in our own home. The communication from Oddny was timely, clear, and full of information. We traveled to Geyser, Gulfoss, Thingvellir, Glymer, and the hot springs of Reykjadalur easily. Staying here and cooking our own meals in the fully equipped kitchen helped to keep the cost of our trip down. My three young children slept well in the darkened downstairs bedrooms despite the long hours of sun. We would highly recommend this house.

We had the most amazing time at Oddny and Palmi's cabin. The cabin was just over an hour from the Keflavik airport and about 30 minutes from Reykjavik. We used the cabin as a base camp and took several day trips throughout Iceland. It was so nice to come back to each evening. The views as you drive up are spectacular and the cabin itself is so peaceful and relaxing. It was also incredibly clean and had absolutely everything we needed. When I thought we were out of laundry soap I messaged Oddny as to where to buy more and she told me about three more bottles I had missed. So everything was well stocked and we had everything we needed. Oddny was amazing at communication and was incredibly helpful. She was always available via message or phone and when I wrote her messages through Airbnb she responded so quickly. It was so nice to have her help and insights on both the cabin and Iceland itself. Palmi is an incredibly talented craftsman and his work is displayed throughout the cabin. We ran out of time to visit his shop but I wish we could have visited it. Next time we will block our time to visit his shop, meet him and buy some of his incredible pieces. Overall we had an amazing stay and would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks Oddny and Palmi for a wonderful stay! We made memories that will last a lifetime.

This place is BEAUTIFUL. The pictures do not accurately describe how beautiful this place is. Perfectly clean and the cabin is very modern and nice. Oddny was very communicative and was great to deal with.

We had a wonderful time at Oddny's place. This is my first time of using Airbnb and if this is anything to go by then I'll be sure to it again. Oddny's place was beautiful, secluded yet within easy access of all major roads to get you to the sights. The hosts are the best kind, heard but not seen. Always available should you need them but they have the place set up so good that you never need to. To all those looking at this property, go for it. Trust me you won't be disappointed. Thanks again Oddny.

Enjoy spending time with my family and friends, especially in our wonderful cottage that Palmi designed and built in 2008 with the help of carpenters.

A couple of years ago, a few months after our youngest son was born, we decided to share our cottage with people from all over the world to help cover the cost of running two homes. A true "win-win" situation, especially since it has worked really well so far :-)
