Located in the heart of this charming fishing village. Now a comfortable holiday cottage our 4 bedroomed Victorian property was formerly the police station. The house includes lots of interesting original features, including the cell doors!

The space

Beckfield, formerly the old police station in Robin Hood's Bay offers comfortable self catering family accommodation that can sleep up to eight.

Beckfield is a stone-built detached property situated down the hill in the old village of Robin Hood's Bay. Built in 1886, the original purpose of the property was as the police station and many interesting features still remain.

The house is within a two minute walk of the beach and all the local amenities, and is centrally heated and double glazed throughout. The tiered patio offers a spacious outside area with views over New Road and is perfect for barbeques or just sitting and watching the world go by. Additionally, there are outbuildings including a coal house, W.C. and wash-house.

Beckfield is home to one of the famous "spots" in the bay, when the house was purchased by the family of the current owners in 1938 a gate for the house was made for them by the famous Thompson of Kilburn. His mouse trademark is a favourite with visitors.

Please note that the house is accessed via steps from the road, the external photo helps show how many the house inside is on 3 levels.

Guest access

Guests have access to the whole house as well as access to 2 parking disks for the Fisherhead carpark located next to the house, please note that vans and mini vans are not permitted in the car park next to the house but paid parking is available at the top of the hill. Bedding and towels are provided.

Interaction with guests

The house is our self catering property so i'm sorry but we are not on site.

Other things to note

Just home from a fantastic stay in Robin Hoods Bay in The old Police House. The house is in a fantastic location and very well equipped for two families, one of four, one of three. The kids spent most of their time on the beach when tides allowed and learned to boogie board this week. The amenities are fab for such a small Village. I would recommend this to all my friends and would love to return another time.

Ideal accommodation for us as we needed somewhere big for our 8 strong team of Coast to Coast walkers. Great location. Minor difficulty for us getting luggage to and from the car park to the house, but more central in RHB you could not be!

Super location. Shops, pubs and restaurants all within two or three hundred yards. Car park very close. Very comfortable with all facilities. Although it didn't affect us the only drawback that I can see is that there are flights of stone steps up to the front and back doors. This could be a problem for people with mobility problems and some parents with young children could be worried.

We visited Beckfield as 2 couples and found the space perfect for us. Plenty of room for us. The kitchen is well equipped and even includes a dishwasher. We were delighted with the outdoor space which is not overlooked. Also includes free parking in car park very close. Great stay.

The beckfield is in a prime location in a lovely quaint village, with local pubs within a short walk, the house is very quirky but guests should know the car park will not allow vans on there at all could not understand why though! Our van/mini bus was much better to look at than some of the cars on there the owner must be rather pedantic! The only issue we found with the house is that if 8 were to stay it would be a squeeze and the double bed in the cell is real small.
