At the end of the road, this comfortable home offers solitude and a charming hobbit path to beautiful Heceta Beach. It's a great place for family fun or a romantic get-away. Pet friendly and well stocked for cooking and kicking back.
Very comfortable cottage with lots of sunny (weather cooperating) windows and skylights. Situated on a large lot with lots of privacy in the yard. Close to the beach (few minutes walk) and short drive to Florence, which has lots of fun restaurants and shops.
House has books, games, and beach toys (sand saucers, kits, buckets, shovels. Garage parking usually available, lots of outside parking. Washer, dryer and very well stocked kitchen for cooking. Weber bbq and charcoal is in the garage, remember there is high fire danger in the area during summer.
Interaction with guests
We have almost no interaction with guests. We have a housekeeper who lives nearby and can be available if needed. Also we are always available by phone.
Other things to note
The house floor plan includes an upstairs loft. The upstairs bedrooms are semi-private, but are open to downstairs living area (people who grind coffee at 5 a.m. are very unpopular). The upstairs bathroom is private. The downstairs bedroom is private.
Treat this home gently... we love to share it, but it is our refuge. Please keep kids under control.
SMOKING: Really, no smoking. A few guests have broken this rule... and the house really smells after their departure.
DOGS: No dogs on furniture. There are dog beds and a dog blanket in the closet by the front door. Also dog towels in the garage. Dog bowls are in the kitchen closet. Rinse sand off dogs before they enter the house. Please clean up any dog waste in the yard.
FIRES and SMOKING: No smoking in the house. Be aware that during summer there is extreme fire danger because of the dune grass. We always have a hose hooked up outside. Fireworks are against the law in the neighborhood. Please be extremely careful if you are smoking in the yard and absolutely no smoking in the house.
SEPTIC SYSTEM: Only toilet paper down the toilets, please.
CHECKING OUT: Please do your own dishes... okay to leave them in the dishwasher. Take all food from refrigerator. Okay to use the empty yogurt containers in closet for taking leftovers. Leave beds that have been slept in unmade, so housekeeper knows which need to be changed. Okay to leave garbage. There is a large bear-proof garbage can in the garage for your use. There are instructions about putting the garbage can out in the house notebook. NEVER leave dishes, food or garbage OUTSIDE as there is a lot of coyote and bear activity in the area. If you remember, close blinds and turn thermostat down to 45 degrees. Always close all windows tightly before you leave.
LOCKS/KEYS: Leave keys in the lock box on the front door when you leave.
TSUNAMI: This is a tsunami zone. There is information in the house about what to do in the event of an earthquake/tsunami.
There are two "grab and go" bags in the downstairs bedroom closet. There is extra water in the front door closet. Jerry's Bar (about two blocks away to the north on Rhododendron Drive) is the designated spot to gather (highest elevation).
Please take a look at the evacuation map on the refrigerator. IMPORTANT: there is a tsunami siren test on the last Friday of each month. It will last for a few minutes, beginning at 11 am and followed by the music from "ET". More info on sirens: (website hidden)
