After 6 years of hosting we still enjoy making our home a special place…we will be away for a few weeks and welcome guests into our primary residence, the second floor of a 2-unit building and upstairs from our full-time airbnb unit.

The space

This is the upstairs apartment in the same building as our other airbnb unit (see Private Apartment Hip Logan Square). We are currently renting it for a few weeks while we are out of town.

Guest access

The apartment is on the second floor of a classic Chicago brick 2-flat with 2 bedrooms, kitchen with all large and small appliances (the stove is fancy if you are a cook) that opens to a family room, full marble bathroom and living room. The layout is more open than a typical Chicago 2-flat because we have removed some walls, but there is still plenty of privacy. The front bedroom (queen bed) is very large, with an open archway to the living room. The second bedroom is also large (twin bed), and has a real door. The apartment is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The back porch is a great place to hang out and has access to our yard. There is laundry in the basement, as well as a place to store bikes if you travel that way. The first floor apartment is always booked, so you might see other airbnb guests if you visit, but each apartment is completely private.

Interaction with guests

This is our primary residence, so we will be away while you are in town.

Other things to note

We are very family friendly (since we have a kid ourselves!), and we have some gear you can borrow while here, including a pack n' play, countertop high chair (sassy seat), booster car seats (sorry no baby car seat), and toys/books galore. If you need something specific, just ask, we can probably borrow it.

Very clean. Very cool apartment. Lovely plants all around. Had a wonderful time. If it's available again we would absolutely stay.

My 12 year old son and I were visiting Chicago from NY and stayed at Meighan's apartment over a long weekend. We both loved out time there. The space was welcoming, very clean and beautifully decorated. Even though the apartment is cosy, each space is thoughtfully laid out and decorated so the experience felt like we had plenty of room. It didn't feel like a sterile rental. We cooked some of our meals and the kitchen felt well stocked and comfortable. There is a beautiful little plant filled terrace right off the kitchen- a wonderful place to sit in the morning with coffee or at the end of the day. We also felt safe in the neighborhood and it was easy to get around the city on public transport. A good walking around and exploring neighborhood.

The house was really lovely--one of the nicest that we have stayed in from Airbnb. The house is decorated in an eclectic and highly curated way. There are interesting and charming things all over. My favorite was a small ex voto in the bathroom. The only things that surprised me, though they caused no problems at all, are two. The living room is smaller than it looks from the photos, though there are so many spaces to sit, talk, relax, etc. that it hardly matters. The second is that the bedroom does not have any closing doors. The space nevertheless felt private and wasn't inconvenient or uncomfortable. The house is located near the blue line, which makes getting downtown about across the whole city easy. The neighborhood itself had a lot to offer and it was a joy to hangout in Logan Square. Meighan was really helpful and very punctual in responses (certainly faster than me!). When asking to add a day onto the trip she was very helpful and efficient. She is certainly a great host and one should be excited to stay in her house!

Response from Meighan:
Ha ha thanks for mentioning no doors on the front bedroom. We have lived that way for so long that I forget! But other guests should know about it…

Meighan is a great host and this apartment is fantastic. Really smart and very comfortable, with many personal touches that gave it great character. It had all the amenities we could possbly need. The location is perfect, broad streets, handsome 19th-century houses, lots of hip restaurants and shops nearby, and just a short walk to public transport - which was important for Aussies travelling without a car. We loved our 5 night stay and only wish it could have been longer.

This was a wonderful place to stay, great location also. Logan square had great restaurants and bars and the apartment was not far from all the main attractions.

Meighan and her apartment were amazing! We had a fabulous time there. Her place was beautifully decorated including a nice, relaxing patio area. It was convenient to catch the train or bus to a variety of neighborhoods in Chicago and Logan Square was itself was great. Meighan was very easy to communicate with before and throughout our stay. We would highly recommend it!

I have a small family (partner, Dave and daughter, Frances, 14) and a passion for nature and travel. I prefer a small cafe to a trendy restaurant, and like to spend my free time hiking, biking and gardening (ok, Dave is the gardener). I spent big chunks of my '20s and '30s in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, but travel is harder these days with a school schedule so I have been exploring the States, Mexico and South America little by little.
