The Most Important Questions you are dying to ask:
Q: What is the exact address?
A: BSA Tower, Legaspi Street, Legaspi Village, Makati
Q: Are you near the Greenbelt Mall?
A: We are across the street from it. So, that would make it a 6 second walk (not 6 minutes). Please see the pictures for this room. The last set features the entrance of our apartment building and the mall across from each other. It can’t get any nearer or clearer than that. =)
Q: Do you have Wi-Fi?
A: Of course! =)
Q: Do you have Cleaning?
A: Yes, it is every other day. = )
Spacious and tastefully decorated 32 square meter studio. Complimentary use of high speed wifi as well as a complete kitchen. A 32 inch flat screen TV with cable rounds out the apartment’s entertainment options. Major shopping districts, museums and restaurants are literally just across the street. The apartment is serviced every other day - free of charge. The quoted price is inclusive of all other fees, taxes, utilities, etc - you don't need to worry about paying for anything else!
Good for walking – The apartment is centrally located in the heart of Makati. A major shopping centre Greenbelt-Glorietta is less than a minutes walk away while Ayala Avenue, the Philippines’s equivalent of Wall Street, is a 5 minute walk away. Major Banks such as HSBC and Citibank are a 5 and 10 min. walk away, respectively. Ayala Museum is less than a 5 minute walk away. For your food needs, there is a 24 hour convenience store located in the building, while a regular supermarket is less than a 10 minute walk away.
Great for getting a car or mass transport- Given the apartment’s central, location hailing a cab is easy while the nearest Mass Transit Station (MRT- Ayala Avenue Station) is around a 15 minute walk away.
Great as a base for visiting other sites in Manila- Makati lies roughly in the middle of all the action in Manila. Historic Intramuros (the walled city of the Spaniards) and Chinatown are around 30-45 minutes by car. Ermita / Malate (a cultural and artistic centre for centuries) is around 30 minutes away by car. Newly minted shopping and entertainment zone, Fort Bonifacio, is around 15 minutes away by car. The International Airport is around 30-40 minutes away by car. (As you can tell from the travel times, Makati is close to everything. What delays most car trips is the inevitable traffic.)
Q: I am new to the Philippines! What is the difference between Makati and Manila?
A: Manila is a hodgepodge of different cities and municipalities. Makati is one of these cities. An apt analogy is that Manila is like New York. New York is made out of different boroughs while Manila is composed of different cities and municipalities. Makati is one such city and would, continuing the analogy, be comparable to New York’s Manhattan district.
Given the nature of the unit’s surroundings (financial and shopping districts) it is not an exaggeration to say that the area is one of the safest in the entire country. One can walk around at night without any fear of anything untoward happening. Moreover, the building itself has round the clock security with roving security checks.
Other available services:
We try to offer our guests the convenience of everything. Some are free and some are for a small fee:
a. City Guide (free): Our suggestions on where to visit in the Philippines as well as local hot spots.
b. Foreign Exchange at competitive rates: So you don’t need to worry about finding a reputable money exchanger or running out of pesos.
c. Advise on other destinations in the PH (Free): Manila is a great jumping off point to other local destinations. Some examples are sunning yourself in world famous Boracay Island, swimming with Whale Sharks in Dunsol, relaxing in the mountain atmosphere of Tagaytay, scuba diving in Batangas, or island hopping in Coron. Wherever you want to go in the Philippines, we can offer advice on where to stay.
d. Keep your bags while you are away (Free): If you do decide to go out of town you don’t want to be lugging all your stuff with you. You can leave your other luggage with us until your return to Manila.
e. Translation Services (Subject to Availability: Not everyone has English as their lingua franca. We offer translators who can communicate in Chinese (Mandarin or Hokkien) and Korean.
f. Event Photography: Let our photographers worry about the pictures so you can focus on enjoying yourself.
Q: Where do I pick up the Keys?
A: There are no Keys. When you book the room we sent Check in Instructions which contain a unique 4 digit code (which is changed for each guest) that allows you access to the room. This is better than a key because this way your group can go in and out of the room without having to designate a person to hold the key for everyone.
Q: What if we want to check in earlier than 2pm?
A: You can either (1) opt to pay an additional early check in fee of PHP1,000 or (2) you can leave your luggage with our staff at an agreed time at the lobby. Please coordinate with us before hand for either option.
Q: Can we leave luggage with you if we aren’t ready to leave the city yet or if our flight is later in the evening?
A: Of course! However we limit the number of bags or suitcases you can leave with us to 4 pieces. If it is more than 4 pieces we may not be able to depending on how many of our other guests are asking us to store our luggage. Please tell us in advance should you wish to choose this option.
Q: Can we leave luggage with you if we are leaving the city but have a reservation with an Alcoves apartment later within the month?
A: Yes! Provided that it is not more than 4 pieces. Please tell us in advance should you wish to choose this option.
We are 3 siblings (Cris, Anton, and Rafael) who have travelled around the world ever since we were kids! Throughout that period we experienced 5 star and no star lodgings wherever we went! And because of our experiences, we know how a traveller should be treated.
At Alcoves, we guarantee you will always have a friendly host to call on should you need anything. We are here to make sure you are well taken care of before, during, and even after your booking with us! And we absolutely love talking to guests about where they come from, especially when we ourselves were visitors of their home city from a past trip.
Some of the cities we frequent the most:
1. Washington D.C. (We practically live here! Pentagon City and the the Air and Space Museum is awesome)
2. London (We love West End! And we have been here quite a number of times; love shopping up and down Oxford Circus as well)
3. Geneva (Our parents live here so we know all the little secret restaurants which serve the best cheese fondue and entrecote!)
4. New York (For a regular shopping spree every now and then)
5. Paris (When we want to drink good wine and the best meals ever!)
A little bit about our professional lives:
1. Cris - is a licensed doctor of medicine practicing in Washington D.C. She responds to most of all our guest requests and e-mails.
2. Anton - is a professor of literature, and licensed lawyer in the Philippines.
3. Rafael- is a professor of literature, fiction writer and a law student, also in the Philippines.
Other Countries we've been too (in no order of preference)
4. Japan (Vendo Ramen!!)
5. China (Great Wall is the grandest thing we have ever seen. Ever)
6. Bosnia (very deep history. Amazing feeling being where world war 1 started)
