Small old-fashioned cabin surrounded by trees on a quiet lake surrounded by crown land. Faces west: right into the sunsets. Share kitchen/living space with owner and low-key hypo allergenic dog. 2 small bedrooms. Canoe, kayaks, rowboat, fire pit, hiking/biking trails nearby. Drinking water is supplied and comes from a nearby much-heralded spring. Organic heirloom vegetable farm is 10 mins up the lane. Breakfast is included: free-range eggs from the farm, cooked how you'd like them (hopefully!).

The space

This is a small 1930's style cottage where the living room and kitchen are one space. Separate small bedrooms are side-by-side. Shower is small. We spend most of our time outdoors, under a tree, on the dock, swimming.. eating, reading, playing cards or board games or napping...
Feel free to use the bbq.
No wifi at lake, nearest is 24/7 at library in town.
Nearest store is also in town 5 km away.

Guest access

Canoe, kayaks, rowboat, paddle boat are all available for use only on our lake. There is also a fire pit, firewood-- bring or chop your own wood for fire.
Hiking trails, and the Magnetawan river are nearby.
Always lots of drinking water on hand for guests from a nearby, much-heralded spring.

Everything about our stay at Karen's cottage was perfect, my friend Hayley and I loved every minute. The cottage was comfortable, quirky and perfect for the surroundings. To be a few steps away from the Lake was just fabulous. Karen let us take out the kayaks and made us feel so at home and at ease. We cooked on the BBQ and ate by the Lake. It was so nice spending time with Karen and Ali too. We really do hope to come back for longer next time. Karen's hospitality was fabulous and we really do recommend it if you need some time to kick back, unwind and enjoy the surroundings. It was an amazing, relaxing experience and the perfect end to our trip.

Karen's cottage is like a home away from home, my partner and I were made to feel extremely welcome and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The cottage - whilst basic - offers everything you could possibly need for a fantastic stay. Karen and Ali (her dog) were both welcoming and engaging and did everything possible to make our stay a memorable one. The cottage is on the side of a gorgeous lake which offers brilliant tranquility interspersed with adventurous kayaking, canoeing and a rope swing for those looking for some adrenaline! We would totally stay here again and hope to return.

Karen has an amazing quaint cottage on the most beautiful and quiet lake. She was very kind and helpful with whatever I needed and answered all questions I had regardind any local spots to check out. Kayaking was my favorite activity- the perfect lake for early morning kayak. An amazing spot and an exceptional host.

This place is awesome!!! The lake is breathtaking, and having full use of Karen's canoes and kayaks were the cherry on top. My dog had a great time too! We were close to to ice cream, general store and LCBO. Karen had a ton of board games that passed the night away. Her outdoor surroundings are idyllic! My fav trip so far! Would def recommend. The only negative was the shower was too small and almost zero water pressure. But that's small in comparison to everything we got. Karen is the sweetest, most thoughtful host I've had up to date :) I'm coming back!!!

This place is FANTASTIC. Beautiful lakeside cottage. Karen gave us access to her canoes and kayaks. The cottage is so charming and the bed is comfortable. Spacious outdoor area and outdoor dining tent. The host, Karen, is outstanding. She made us and our pup feel so welcome and she is very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and Algonquin park. She is great company as is her adorable dog Allie. Karen also makes a killer breakfast. Cannot recommend highly enough.

This cottage is a great little retreat with scenic view of a lake. There is tremendous opportunity for outdoor activities such as kayaking, hiking, canoeing, fishing, or simply relaxing on the deck and watching sunsets (the list can go on and on). Karen is wonderful, kind, and open-hearted host. Her dog is very intelligent and loves to play :) We had a great retreat-style vacation time there we will be sure to remember. Our deepest gratitude to Karen for hosting us and helping us at the cottage and in our country side adventures!

I love kayaking here at the lake (it's pretty tame, I'm looking for wildlife, not rapids.. ) or hiking around the area after retiring from a career in media. The rest of the time is about family, with a few books thrown in for good measure. The cottage has lots of games, indoor (…
