Description

The space

Our cottage is very quiet and right in the centre of Totnes. It was built at the beginning of the 1800s as the Headmaster's House to the original school so it has lots of character, a log burner and gas central heating making it a cosy place to stay.

Guest access

All the house. including the decking area.

Interaction with guests

We have our mobiles with us whist we are away. Providing we have reception or WiFi, we will answer any questions you may have during your stay.

The neighbourhood

Our home is situated in the oldest part of this timeless town. It's very quiet and only one street away from the High Street which makes is a fantastic location.

Getting around

There are plenty of buses and we are only 10 mins walk from the mainline train station. However, to get to the best bits of the coast and Dartmoor, a car is a must. For £5 (council admin cost), I can add you to our parking permit which allows you to park anytime in North Street car park and also any other long stay car parks in the South Hams. Just let me know your vehicle registration plate before you arrive.

Gillian went above and beyond to communicate with us before arrival, then stayed in touch on the day as we were late due to traffic. She then turned up just after we finally arrived and showed us round and gave us keys. A great host. The house is lovely too - in a fantastic location just behind the high street and short walk from most of the key spots in Totnes. Would definitely rent again if we come back to Totnes.

Great cottage, well equipped and comfortable, right in the centre of Totness and with easy access to Dartmoor and the lovely Devon coast. Gillian was really helpful providing tons of information and tips - just wish we'd have been able to spend more time there!

My friends and I had the perfect stay at Gillian's cottage. We've all lived in Totnes previously and agree that the cottage is in the ideal location for both the town and the station. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a wood burner and a great stereo for relaxed evenings in. The only thing about the cottage is that it doesn't get too much sun downstairs although the upstairs is light and airy, especially in the mornings. I'd recommend staying at Gillian's wholeheartedly, you'd have trouble finding a better place to stay in Totnes.
