The house is located on the edge of the historical city centre. 10 min. walk from the station and central market square. The room is very big with a kingsize boxspring bed, private bathroom & mini-cooler. Free wifi, Nespresso & tea. Gay friendly.
This very spacious room has got two windows on the East side. The kingsize bed is very comfortable and will make sure you can start your day well rested. There is a small table in the room with two chairs to read, have a coffee or work on you laptop.
You can make delicious coffee with the Nespresso machine of make a nice cup of tea (included in the price).
The cupboard provides enough space to lay or hang your clothes in.
There is also a mini-cooler of 38 ltr. to cool your drinks and food.
You will have your own private bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Shampoo, shower gel, towels and tissues are provided.
The house is basic and clean.
Most of the time I will also be in the house. You only rent the sleeping room and bathroom. The rest of the house is my private space.
You have access to the entrance hall, your room upstairs and your own bedroom. The rest of the house is my private space.
Interaction with guests
I'm a very busy person. I will either be in the house, where I also work, but I also work in Amsterdam. I have a lot of rehearsals in the evenings and might be abroad during your stay. If so, I will let you know.
I have my own room and bathroom opposite of yours on the first floor.
I'll help you make your way in Haarlem, Amsterdam and The Netherlands in general. But expect you to go your own way once you're settled. I've traveled a lot myself and speak English, Spanish, German, a little bit French and of course Dutch. I prefer corresponding in English.
The house is an old prison warden's house, which is part of the dome prison 'Koepelgevangenis', which is a nationals monument and vital to the image of the city layout of Haarlem. One one minute walk is the famous "Adriaan" windmill and the old city gate of Haarlem "Amsterdamse Poort".
The bus stop is a two minutes walk away and the train station and old town centre at 15 minutes walking distance.
There is a parking lot in front of the house, € 2,60 per hour. And beware of the time slots in which you are allowed to park, because it is also at some hours only for residents.
Free parking area's are where the DEKA supermarket is (Amsterdamstraat), and the streets behind it. It's only a 5 minute walk from the house.
The train to Amsterdam leaves on average 8 times per hour. The fist one leaves at 4:17 in the morning and the last train from Amsterdam to Haarlem leaves at 1:03. All night there are buses riding between Amsterdam and Haarlem, which takes about one hour. The train takes about 15 minutes and costs € 4,30 one way fare.

I prefer to rent out the room to people who like to see the city/country and don't stay in the room most of the day.
I'd like you to feel at home in my house and expect that you will also treat the house as such.
No smoking in the house. You may smoke on the patio.
No pets. No parties. No drugs (including marihuana).
