Very cool, eclectic and personal, lateral loft space taking up the first floor of an industrial turn of the 20th century workshop in Shoreditch / Hoxton, three minutes walk to Hoxton Square, five minutes walk to Old Street underground station (Northern Line) and twelve minutes to Liverpool Street main line and underground. There is a Barclays bike stand 50m from the building. Within three minutes walk are fantastic bars and restaurants.
The markets, bar and restaurants at Columbia Road, Brick Lane, Spitalfields and Broadway Market are all a short distance away. All of the Olympic sites and the West End / Oxford Street are accessible from the excellent local connections (20 minute bus journey / 15 in a cab to Oxford Street).
The flat is essentially one large room, with a three quarter height kitchen divider separating the living space from the bedroom, and from the bedroom, a door leading to a separate bathroom with bath and shower. The space has enormous windows on three sides – fitted with blackout roller blinds for when needed.
It is fully furnished with design originals including a super comfy sofa and a dining table that seats eight easily. The main space has freeview / DVD / blu-ray / full hifi and an HD projector which accepts inputs from most laptops and very fast wifi (50-70meg). The large loading doors at the end of the space can be opened to let the outside in. There is also an informal space on the New York style fire escape leading up to the entrance where one can take the sun and have a coffee on a nice day. Great mood lighting.
Kitchen equipped with a gas hob, an electric oven, a dishwasher and fully stocked with cooking utensils and crockery. Central heating keeps the space toasty in winter despite the large crittal windows.
There is a laundry area with a washer / dryer and an old fashioned clothes airer over the bath. The bathroom is functional and spotlessly clean.
Towels and bed linen all white and of the best quality (400 thread frette sheets) and the bed has a king size (150cm) tempur mattress.
At additional cost, I can arrange a sofa bed / double futon so the space can accommodate 3-4 people in total. Smokers may be accommodated, but please let me know in advance when you book if you will be smoking in the flat.
There is a fantastic coffee shop 15 metres away, perfect for breakfast and a late opening dry cleaners two shops down from that. The nearest pub is just at the back of the building (but we don’t hear the noise) and they serve excellent pizza until late. There is also a late opening Tesco mini supermarket at the other end of the road and an organic grocery four minutes walk in the other direction. I’ve lived in the area for fifteen years and happy to suggest bars, restaurants, art events, parties etc. depending on what you are looking for.
The space has neighbours above and below so loud music and parties after midnight are not welcome please and would need to be discussed before booking.
Interaction with Guests
I usually check in every guest myself and live in the block when I am in London
All welcome if respectful. No parties after midnight please without having been agreed prior to booking. No loud music after midnight please - the sound system rocks but only until midnight! Three locks to get in. One for the gate downstairs and then a mortice and a yale for the front door. When you go out you just close the front door and turn the mortice lock. Easy! There are three other floors in the building, very friendly neighbours. If you smoke, open the doors to air the room - it soon clears - that the beauty of wood floors and leather furniture - the smoke does not stay, which is good for non-smokers like me!
We had a great time and enjoyed the moment at Rafa's flat. It is a very unique and culture styled loft, Rafa's has made his effort to create this artistic flat with collections and decorations. The hanging chair is a touch.
Rafa is a very friendly, helpful and generous host. It's very nice to meet the host in person and really had a conversation. Very appreciated his hospitality.
Finally, the flat were surprisingly clean in the inside, and all amenties were neat and nice.
Rafa went out of his way to welcome me and gave his time to give me tips for where to go, and how things work in the apartment. He replies super quickly which is appreciated. The loft is in a good location with good coffee nearby. It is well equipped, with extremely nice sheets with good pillows! It's not as quiet as I expected from other reviews but becomes quiet at night. Shower in bath but worked well. thanks for your trust, Rafa.
Fantastic neighbourhood for living 'like the local Londoners'. Rafa met us and explained all about the apartment and some additional tips for us regarding the things we were interested in.
The Apartment is spacious, very comfortable and we LOVED the eclectic feel and experience of warehouse living. We we hope to return and stay for a longer period sometime again. Easy access to Tube and buses and other facilities, we walked a lot to tourist and other spots. Brick Lane, local markets and we can highly recomment the new cafe around the corner called 'Friends of ours' - great service, friendly and fab coffee - always a plus. Jamie Oliver 15 is 2 mins walk, try 8 Hoxton for dinner - it was fantastic.
Rafa's apartment is great for long stays also as there is everything you need there to 'live'.
Many thanks Rafa
We love Rafa's flat so much!!! Especially our 9 years boy. It has great atmosphere and every little thing you need! Rafa is a such nice guy, very helpful. Will definitely recommend to all my friends who needs a lovely place to stay in London.
The apartment is sooooo amazing!!! The location is very great, nearby restaurants and underground.Rafa is a great host. He decorated the place just like the photos. Rafa gave us many advices of our trip .Thank you for everything.
The place is amazing and exactly as the photos and description are. The flat is located in a great position to explore all of East London. We had a great time and would recommend staying here to anyone.
We stayed with Rafa in the loft with our 2 young children. He was very accommodating right from the start with meeting us at the front door and showing us our own car park for our hire car. He gave us a tour and showed us the ropes and then left us to enjoy it.
We loved exploring the place and all his personal memorabilia that decorate the space. Our girls particularly loved the place lit up like a carnival at night. The loft is easy walking distance to the Underground and Brick Lane and lots of trendy places to eat. Loved our stay and would definitely return to stay with Rafa when back in London.
