Historic but thoughtfully renovated; enjoy the 5 fireplaces, modern bathrooms, luxuriously comfortable beds. The house is in a beautiful garden-filled setting next to hiking trails. Locally sourced gourmet breakfast included in price.

The space

The Abigail Room faces South and East. You will see our front yard and entranceway from the four 9 over 6 windows on both walls. Beautiful Asian artifacts decorate the room that you will enjoy viewing while propped up on the down pillows and under the down duvet or in the wing-back chair. Many books and magazines are available for your reading pleasure in the bookcase in the room.

Guest access

You will have access to the newly renovated bathroom shared with any guests across the hall. The skylight in the bathroom will bring light into either the shower or soaking bath. Your feet will be warmed by the radiant heat, as well. You can choose to read in the library downstairs or enjoy the fire in the living room in winter or the porch swing in the other months of the year. Breakfast will be served on the porch or in the dining room, whichever you prefer. Tea/coffee is available at all times. Enjoy the plants and animals in garden and on the farm.

Interaction with guests

Jasmine and I will be happy to tell you about the attractions, food, performances, and other goodies in the area. We'd love to sit and talk with you about our individual adventures or leave you to yourselves if that is what you prefer.

Other things to note

We are just beginning to farm our property and have recently planted over 100 blueberry bushes, 50 strawberry plants, 4 fruit trees, and multiple herbs. We plant a big organic garden every year and will be adding more fruits and veggies this next year. We also plan to have animals so that we can grow most of the food we serve for our breakfasts and snacks. You are welcome to help out if you care to but get our permission before starting.

Perfect in every way. Marian and her assistant were both wonderful and very laid back - I felt very welcomed and comfortable immediately upon arrival. I had such fun enjoying watching/petting the goats and chickens on the property. The room and bathroom had a lot of character and was spotless. With 3 acres of property, both day and night were very quiet and peaceful. Delicious homemade healthy breakfast shared with hosts. 10-stars

Very welcoming host. The house was very comfortable. It had a nice rustic feel, but had all the modern comforts. A different homemade breakfast was served each morning and was delicious. We will definitely be back to stay whenever we visit family.

Henrietta House and our host, Marian, were wonderful! The building is old, but the amenities are current and very comfortable. Marian and her assistant, Jasmine, are a good team of cooks with excellent breakfast foods and recipes, coffee and juices. They were accommodating and flexible. I have already booked a room for my next trip to Connecticut!

Marian is the perfect New England host; well travelled and worldly wise, her eclectic home filled with the simple things she has found in places as far away as Japan and Europe seem to fit seamlessly into her historic 18thC farmhouse. The room is truly a home from home, comfortable and with bedlinen which perhaps one day you may even buy for your own bed...... And a breakfast which is aided by Marian's house helper that you will rarely find elsewhere. Your host will also demand interesting conversation as you start the together .... Pancakes or waffles with most excellent pork and goats yogurt from her smallholding. What more can I say in praise of this wonderful example of what AirBNB should be all about?

What a wonderful first experience with AirB&B at Henrietta's B&B and Red House Farm! Simple booking and then so warmly welcomed first by the farm's chickens and then Marian herself. The room was sunny, impeccable and comfortable. We were celebrating my love's birthday...he grew up in a farm and it was quite the treat for him. The next morning we were indulged with an amazing breakfast of frittata made from farm eggs, biscuits and gravy, and fresh local fruits jams. Dining with other guests and Marian capped off our visit wonderfully. We hope to visit again. Thank you Marian for making us feel so welcome!

I could not believe how beautiful it was to drive into Marian's drive, and there she was in her garden to greet me -- welcoming, professional. She was taking off for a meeting but Jasmine was there to take care of everything. The next morning after a fabulous breakfast Marian gave me a tour of the house. It's incredible. The first part is from the 1720s. I learned I'd slept in the newer addition. It's from the 1740s! I was in Ashford doing history research, from this time period. I could not believe how lucky I was to actually be sleeping in a house that was around when the people I was researching were around. Marian is a collector of textiles and has them on display in all the right places. We ended up having much in common and it was great to visit. Jasmine works for Marian and she's a naturally attentive hostess. This was my first air b n b experience. It was above and beyond any expectation I had. I feared I was totally spoiled, but my next experience was also beyond my expectations. i am not always full of superlatives, but when the house, the history, the bed, the breakfast, the company, the garden and the chickens are superlative, then what else can I say?
