Quiet, rustic and serene. Built in an old mango orchard near the beach, our home is the perfect place to unwind and soak in some serious relaxation. Nights on the verandah are pretty romantic. Good food and company if you wish.

From the moment we made our initial inquiry Ranjeet has been exceptionally helpful, not just with our stay at La Casa Roja but with recommendations for our whole trip. He and his wife Maria were wonderful hosts, entertaining and generous with their hospitality and time. Their house is an award winning design, but it's their amazing welcome and home from home approach which really made the perfect end to our holiday. The house is close to the beach, but the garden is exquisite and the food delicious, we actually spent most of our 2 days at their house.... wish we could have stayed longer... or moved in permanently. Heaven!

Stayed for one night en route other destinations on ECR. Ranjeet and his wife Maria were incredibly friendly and warm hosts:- thoughtful too, for leaving dinner out for a late night arrival. The estate itself is lovely - an old-style bungalow that is very much a home, and not a hotel. Food is fresh and varied - everything from fruit to biryani. Their household staff is non-intrusive and extremely polite. Would absolutely go back for a longer stay. Future guests would do well to follow their dog Waffle's worldly-wise example: eat, sleep, repeat. :-)

A truly magical experience. There are three kinds of travelers who'd love a stay at Casa Rojo. The first is anyone with an eye for aesthetic and beauty. The house is stunning. Both inside and out. A lovely open airy design with a very interesting story behind each technique used, each artifact - the bricks are made with an age-old Kerala tradition, there are some colonial lounge chairs that are 140 years old, a German water canteen and jerry can from WWII. But it's the finishing and attention to detail is phenomenal. Its like a museum of paintings and sketches, unique antiques and little knick knacks - very tastefully done. You can spend hours just looking at all these. The second would be travellers looking for peace and tranquility. Its lovely, silent and very peaceful. I spent hours on the lovely verandah by the fish pond that inmerses you in a very soothing green - great for reading, writing, snoozing. The third set of travelers would be those who realise travel is about people and experiences. Ranjeet and his wife Maria are wonderful hosts. Warm, concerned and meticulous. But more than that - lots of fun. Had hours of conversations with Ranjeet on a variety of topics - a lot to learn from him. He helped with a lot of my further planning for my holiday too. Their hospitality was very memorable. And the food was spectacular - very fresh, not oily, but very interesting south Indian cuisine. It was so good that eventually became a key part of the stay. Overall a lovely experience. All the amenities of a luxury resort - but with a lot more warmth and character. Its not that far out of Chennai - about half an hour, but feels like a different reality - far from the chaos and noise of that city. It's great for Chennai folks wanting a break for the weekend, or for someone travelling in Tamil Nadu looking for a good base for their travels, specially if you plan to travel down the ECR. Would definitely go back, if not just for the food or the tranquitility, but for Ranjeet and Maria's hospitality.
