About this listing

An amazing fusion of art and architecture. Very comfortable. Made of Straw Bale & earth plaster, hand made glass, lighting and furniture. Tranquil- with the sound of flowing water from the Moonlight Acequia.
Central to the incredible sights of the Utah desert and the Colorado high country, it stands alone as a place to chill out and relax during your Southwest Adventure.
Our guests have access to our organic gardens, green houses and Anasazi ruins.
Set in the middle of 135 acres.

The space

From our big sky paintings by our local artist friend to the one-of-a-kind ironwork wood burning stove, we have been handcrafting the details of this place-- its structure and furnishings-- for more than a decade. Inspired by the straw bale and tiny house movements, its design is thoughtful and efficient.

Guest access

While staying on our farm, you can pick and eat organic vegetables from both greenhouses, eat meals with beautiful views in our outdoor kitchen, find Ancient Anasazi ruins on our land, and hike the trail to Cat Canyon Cave. We are an artist and farmer at heart, and we love to build community and share knowledge and ideas, so you're welcome to explore our gardens and workshops if you'd like.

Interaction with guests

The two of us live on our 135-acre property year-round and we will most likely be here during your stay. We are happy to share conversation and show you around the land if you'd like, but we're also happy to provide you privacy if you are looking to get away. Just let us know your preference!

Other things to note

Check in and check out times are flexible. We have our property's second guest house listed on AirBnb as well if you are traveling with a party of four.

Joanne and Bill were wonderful hosts! Their cabin had everything we needed for our first visit to Mesa Verde, including a fireplace, deer in the morning and snowfall one evening as we were falling asleep. The location can't be better for visiting Mesa Verde, Shiprock, Four Corners and various hiking trails. Next time we are in the area we will definitely stay at the cabin again. Be sure to ask Bill about the ravens!

Bill and Joanne were wonderful hosts who made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed chatting with them and learning how they created their home in Colorado including the cabins. The cabin we stayed in was beautiful as was the entire property. We enjoyed the fresh baked bread, homemade jam, and apples provided during our stay. We also enjoyed the small touches like an ipod with a range of music setup on a speaker that we could play in the evenings. The space heater did a great job of heating the cabin on cooler nights. We explored the property on our last morning and wished we could have stayed longer to explore more. This was the perfect place for us to escape for a long weekend.

This was a perfect place to stay for my husband and I! Bill and Joanne couldn't have been more welcoming and fun to be around! We loved the area and the cabin. The water streaming by the front door was an added bonus we didn't expect. Did some fantastic trails in the area and visited a wonderful Winery, where we got a personal tour. Joanne had homemade bread and jam with butter and coffee beans to grind for us. We picked some organic tomatoes and basil for our breakfast. We hope to be back soon!

We loved our stay. The only problem is that we did not allow more time to stay and check out the grounds. We'll be back. Bob & Becky

Staying with Bill and Joanne was truly a magical experience. Bill is an incredibly talented artisan and Joanne is an amazing sustainable farmer and together they create an oasis of tranquility, beauty and escape. We enjoyed incredibly vigorous conversation, amazing homemade sourdough bread and fresh apricots from the trees. We will most certainly be back.
