Spacious with panoramic views, it's the ideal hideaway for families, couples or groups of friends. Great for relaxing, hiking & the coast. Surrounded by nature in a lovely village with good pub. The perfect place for holidays and weekend breaks.

The space

Built in the 1890s and being a family home, the house is not a sterile and perfected space but a lovely old and warm space with its own personality, character and quirks. It is the perfect place to wind down and relax. The house is set in undulating countryside and lush grounds in the eastern corner of Dartmoor National Park near the coastline. Five comfortable bedrooms can accommodate families, groups or couples. The view from every room is stunning and a huge terrace and garden offer space for dining and lounging.

The view is beautiful, overlooking a valley. Visitors often find their sleep is unusually deep and refreshing, thanks to the palpable silence at night and the complete absence of intrusive light.

Our home has a wonderful big kitchen with direct access to the huge terrace. The cosy sitting room has cushioned window seats, two sofas and an open fireplace. The drawing room also has an open fireplace, as well as a sofa, big armchairs and a French window door opening out onto the terrace. There is even a billiards table in the hall.

Wildlife can be spotted from any of the bedrooms, hardly a day goes by without a few deer grazing on the green beneath the terrace or by the driveway in the morning and a couple of buzzards circling the valley.

Our house is set in the foothills of Dartmoor National Park, a mile from Lustleigh village center with its well-known local Pub, The Cleave. The house is easily accessible by car, 30 minutes from Exeter, 15 minutes from the A38 and one mile from the village centre.

Combe Edge is a truly beautiful house in a wonderful setting with everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable visit. There is no phone signal as far as I know in the house but the wifi compensates for that. I wish it was my own house.

Such a great place to stay! Wonderful views from the rooms and terrace, great kitchen, plenty to explore in the garden. A pleasingly un-'modernised' and well equipped house that immediately felt like home. Be warned the roads to get there are very very narrow but this is probably one of the reasons it feels so wonderfully removed from place and time! We would absolutely stay here again.

The house is lovey and the garden is large and picturesque - however if you suffer with asthma I would avoid the house as I had to constantly use my inhaler - and could not use the sitting room due to shortness of breath. I'm normally only allergic to cats- or sure what caused it but bare it in mind.

An absolutely gorgeous country retreat. Location and views were stunning, everything was clean and cosy, and we had a wonderful time. There were helpful leaflets and suggestions of things to do nearby (we loved the walking routes!), well stocked with cooking equipment, acres of space (three living rooms!). The directions to get to the house were very helpful and clear.

Five of us stayed here for the weekend on a cycling trip. The house is wonderful, with huge rooms and loads of space. Check in was flexible, which suited us perfectly. The garden and surrounding area is gorgeous, making this a perfect place if you're into cycling, walking/hiking etc. Make sure to check out the pub, The Cleave, down the road - great food, beer and staff.

I stayed at Jenny's beautiful house with six friends for a weekend country escape. The house is situated in a picturesque forested Devon valley with incredible views. Belinda - who was our principal point of contact was incredible helpful, accommodating our late Friday evening arrival and providing all the local information a guest could ever need, from great local pubs to convenient walking routes. The house itself has a large kitchen/dining area and a cozy living room with working fireplace - perfect for chilled evenings playing board games. The garden is huge and filled with bluebells and other wild flowers. The view from the veranda stunning - I'd particularly recommend sitting out there in the early morning or evening and listening to the birdsong - it is quite something! There are plenty of excellent walks nearby in the woods, or you can venture onto Dartmoor via car, either way those seeking great hiking should look no further. I can't recommend Jenny's house highly enough. It is the perfect place to escape, slow down, disconnect, hike and enjoy the countryside Thanks you Jenny and Belinda!
