DeWitt Lodge is a newly renovated home available to rent in Hurley, NY, in the heart of the Hudson Valley. This cozy and unique house is very comfortable and is an ideal getaway location for a couple, but can accommodate up to four people.

The space

DeWitt Lodge sits on a ridge amidst 4 acres of woods just outside Hurley, NY. The house is newly-renovated and has a mixture of modern and antique furnishings, great colors and interesting curios.

Just two hours from Manhattan, it is an ideal base to discover the beauty of the Hudson Valley and the Catskill Mountains.

The area features beautiful scenery, many outdoor activities including hiking and biking, rock climbing, sailing, swimming holes and tubing. Museums, art galleries, historic homes and great restaurants are all within easy reach by car. We are less than 10 minutes from Kingston with its vibrant restaurants and arts scene; Rosendale, High Falls and Stone Ridge are 10 minutes away; New Paltz, Mohonk, Woodstock and Rhinebeck are 20 minutes away and the Shawangunks and Hyde Park are only 25 minutes away. We are also only 25 minutes from skiing at Belleayre Mountain.

The house has one private bedroom with a queen size bed and direct access to the bathroom. There is also a reading/sleeping loft above the living room with a full size bed, accessed by a steep staircase. It's a fun space!
The master bedroom has a wood burning stove, private porch and bluestone patio. There is a large living area with a sofa, TV and DVD player, a turntable with a great selection of old vinyl, and some great speakers and room to dance. There is a dining area with a table for 4, a small and funky kitchen with its own breakfast porch, and a bathroom with a tub and shower.

There is plenty of outdoor space with a table and seating as well as a gas grill. No landscaped gardens here...the deer eat everything I plant!

Tim's house is a cozy cabin, off the main road where you can blast awesome music from his amazing sound system, or just relax with a good book or movie. It's near great hiking and restaurants, and Tim leaves easy directions for how to use things around the house and suggestions for what to. We will definitely be back!

I couldn't have picked a better spot to get away from the city for my 9/11 birthday. I'll "never forget" but this year I wanted to dim the bulb on the memory lamp a little bit. Tim's place was perfect for those purposes. I fired up that wood stove, enjoyed a good meal and glass of wine followed by a really great night's sleep. Tim is a welcoming and attentive host -- entirely from afar (and quite obviously found his calling.) Just book it!

Tims place was absolutely wonderful. It was the perfect combination of restful and cozy with bright and airy. The vinyls and cds were also such a great bonus!:) Tim was so thoughtful both before and during our stay. :)

Tim's place was great. It was secluded enough so we had woods in our backyard (great for the dogs) but it was a very short drive to both the happening Stockade District in Kingston and nearby Rosendale. We stayed for two weeks and it was a perfect getaway from the city

When you arrive at the cabin, music and lights came on to welcome us. And there was fresh fruit in the kitchen. The cabin is in a residential area, but still feels secluded as it is set back in the woods. The place was exactly as described, and in a great location if you want to take advantage of hiking in the area. We found we were an easy distance from Mohonk and Minnewasaka, as well as many other beautiful locations. The surrounding towns, Kingston and Hurley, left a bit to be desired, but we found New Paltz to be a good spot for food and indie bookshops. Tim was available via phone, if needed, and responded quickly when I reached out about a smell in the cabin (it had been heavily cleaned prior to our arrival, and left a strong chemical smell). It was difficult to get the smell out since some of the windows in the main room do not open. However, after running the AC (a happy bonus), and a few days, the smell dissipated. The other thing I'd like to note is that the main bedroom has 5 doors, which left us a bit uneasy when in a new place. Two of the doors are sliders, which gave the room great light during the day, but at night, the multiple doors just made us uneasy. Yes, we're scaredy cats.

Very quaint and charming. We were worried because a reviewer mentioned traffic sounds nearby - but it wasn't an issue for us at all. A great spot for a weekend away. Beautiful afternoon sunlight in the bedroom!

I have lived in the Hudson Valley for 17 years. Originally from England and arriving here via Brooklyn and Florida, I am very happy to have ended up in this beautiful part of the world! I work as an interior designer and live in Kingston with my husband Bill. When not working we love nothing more than travelling the world and meeting new people.
