House Rules

Check-in / Check-out: We are flexible on the time you check out, unless there will be new guests coming in directly after your stay, in which case we will need time to clean and change linens, etc.

Breakage: Replace or compensate for anything broken and we'll be fine.

Smoking: We do not allow smoking at all, unless one walks completely off our property and out of sight down the country road. Tobie has been having a difficult time stopping smoking himself, so we don't want any event that might trigger a relapse.

Alcohol: moderate consumption is fine. But this is a quiet, non-party lifestyle here on our place.

Quiteness: we are a quiet homestead most of the time, but especially after 10:30 p.m. We're usually up until 11:00 p.m. We don't care what hours you keep. As long as you turn off the porch light and the big overhead florescent lights by 11 p.m.-ish, your staying up at all hours will be fine if that's your preference.

Fire starting is prohibited, unless specifically assisted by Neva.

Pets: All of our own animals are outdoors. We only allow pets that are free of fleas and ticks and will be kept inside (with guests). We have the protective livestock guardian dogs and the free-range chickens (which also sometimes have their own little baby chickens) running everywhere which can be quite the temptation to the average canine or feline.

Children: We would love to have children, but we do not have a child-friendly place. So we only accept children that are under 1-year old.

Upper bunk bed: only persons 16 years old, or older, will be permitted to sleep in the top bunk. (Hard concrete floor below.)

Wonderful off the beaten path location. We had a great time staying there and will again. Neva and Tobie are very friendly and it was great to have fresh goat's milk and cheese.

Great in Every way. Neva and Tobie are wonderful, interesting folks. We felt like we were with old friends immediately. Neva communicated well before we got there and both Neva and Tobie went out of their way to assure our comfort and enjoyment. The house was comfortable and relaxing, in a great "in the country" location. Would love to have them for neighbors. Paulette and I think their place is a great find, and intend to go back next spring to see the beginning of their organic farming for 2017. They are very knowledgeable with lots of interesting stories to tell. If you want "luxurious, modern surroundings' this is not for you, but if you love good old fashioned, down to earth living with respect for the environment, while being very comfortable with great people, this IS for you.

Incredibly accommodating. They made us breakfast with eggs and oatmeal and fresh goats milk before we left for our race at Hallett! Great people. Will likely stay with them again next time I compete at this track.

Neva and Tobie are wonderful people and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!! Mornings and evenings in their cozy downstairs apartment perfectly framed a short trip to Tulsa. A change of pace on their Oklahoma homesteader farm, under sycamores Neva's mother planted, with tasty fresh eggs, and goats and guinea hens galore. We were lucky enough to partake of creamy white goatmilk... Yum! And, there was a tiny rescue opossum whose mother had died, that they were feeding until it could be taken to be freed. Adorable!!! (If you're into opossums. Which I am.) Their gracious welcome, warm conversation, and general openheartedness made for a salt-of-the-earth authentic experience. Neva and Tobie are gems!

Neva was the picture of a perfect AirBnB host. She met us upon arrival and showed us where everything was located and got us acquainted with the space. She stayed in contact with us to ensure that we had everything we needed. Knowing that the house was a little bit out of the way, I was a little nervous about finding it after dark, but the directions that Neva sent were easy to follow and we drove right to it. We were taking our son on a college visit to OSU so our time was spent in Stillwater about 20 miles away but it was an easy commute. The crowning point was waking to the crowing of roosters every morning!

Neva was a great host! Unbelievably attentive and generous-- she gave us farm fresh eggs, goat milk and cheese. She even did a load of laundry for us! Our kids had an amazing time snuggling kittens and chasing chickens. We had an impromptu jam session that made my whole week! Thank you, Neva!

Tobie and I live on my great-grandparents' original homestead. We are at, or nearing, retirement age and love life on a small farm. We are intrigued with sustainability and self-sufficiency. We are warm, friendly people who enjoy sharing with others about our passions for rural living. But we are also happy to give anyone all the privacy possible should that be their wish.

FARM STAY: Our farm operations are small, consisting of a very large vegetable garden; three Nubian milk-goats named Ladybug, Whiters, and D'Dee; a flock of about 50 free-range chickens and a few baby chicks; 12 guineas ; several outdoor dogs (4 Great Pyrenees guardians named Greta, Happy, Hoss, and Zoie & one ancient little Australian Shepherd named Calico); and three outdoor cats, Priscilla, Stripey, and Jasmine. Just now there are 8 kittens scampering around the milk barn. And Zoie is due to have puppies any day.

We are dedicated to organic practices in raising animals and in our gardening. We use no pesticides, no herbicides, no chemical fertilizers, no antibiotics. We do not push production on our animals with lighting or hormones.

We are intrigued with Community and in the early stages of designing an eco-village /intentional community and are studying the options.

We have a small Health Food Store business that we have operated since 2000. We have down-sized and are transitioning it from its original location in town to our farm.
