Description

The space

The apartment was built in 2010 with great attention to detail: Drawer-style F&P dishwasher, elegant glass shower and heated bathroom floors, and a 42” Plasma screen connected to Apple TV and Netflix. The outfitted galley kitchen is full-size with a gas range and microwave.

The apartment is quite spacious & tall: over 800sqft., with a full-height ceiling - so this doesn’t have the claustrophobic quality of many basement apartments. Right now it is set up for one couple in a queen bed. The bedroom is quiet, with a good mattress. The 2nd bedroom is set up as an office, including a futon-style sofa that opens flat, with bedding provided. It is worth noting that access to the bathroom is through the other bedroom.

The space includes everything you'll need for a short or longer stay, including a washer/dryer.

There is free wireless internet throughout.

The apartment is no smoking/no pets - so anyone with allergies should do well here.

Guest access

This is the lower level of our home, and guests have a separate, private entrance. The door features a keypad bolt, and there is a short indoor staircase down to the apartment.

Interaction with guests

Independent check-in via the keypad lock is the norm, but we also make an effort to greet all of our guests at some point. We live right upstairs if you have any questions or concerns, and we are also available by phone and email during your stay. Beyond that, we base our interaction level on our guest's needs and wishes.

Both Amy and Riley have been to 40+ countries, 40+ states, and way more than 40 music festivals. We love meeting people from around the world, and hope that we’ll have some time to connect while you are in town!

The neighbourhood

You'll likely find yourself spending most of your Seattle time outside the house! Our home is within a 2min walk to the Burke Gilman Trail (Seattle’s bicycle thoroughfare), and a 5min walk to the nearest Bike Share hub - where you can rent a bike and helmet, or return a rented bike 24/7.

Zoka, one of Seattle’s best coffee roasters is a 2min walk away. Ravenna/Cowan park, a 58-acre gem with a playground, public tennis courts and walking trails, is only a 5-min walk away. You can rent a canoe or a kayak at the nearby UW Waterfront Center.

We’re also within a 5min drive of the University of Washington campus, Seattle Children's Hospital, UW Medical Center Hospital, Husky Stadium and much more.

7min drive to I-5.... where it's 3 exits to Downtown (a 15-20 minute drive).

Getting around

Metro bus access is within 3 blocks.

There is street parking at our place for guests with a car. Parking here is by permit (we provide a pass with $100 security deposit) so if guests bring 2 cars, one car will have to park on another block over night.

Other things to note

PLEASE NOTE: The $100 security deposit is mostly for our parking pass (to ensure guests don't leave with it). Parking in the 'hood is generally fine. on Husky Football game days, a parking pass is required. The other 357 days a year, its 2 hour parking that is infrequently checked. but we do have a parking pass that you can hang from your mirror to ensure you don't get a ticket.

Second time with Amy. Still feel comfortable and convenient. Amy is very responsible and friendly. My family will definitely make a third-time stay if they visit me again;)

Amy was a tremendous host...her communication with me prior to arrival was very assuring and helpful. Access to her home couldn't have been more simple. The neighborhood was quiet even with her home being within 1 mile walking distance from Huskie Stadium. Amy left very detailed instructions for everything from wifi connection to garbage disposal. She covered every small detail you could think of, making my son and I's stay very organic as if we were permanent residence. The home was located within walking distance to great food, coffee shops, shopping, UW campus and hiking / biking trails. The apartment was very comfortable and as welcoming as Amy. A super bonus for me was being able to do my son and I's laundry prior to departure. Traveling back home with clean laundry is a major accommodation. It's the simple things in life that can make life even more enjoyable. I look forward to a return trip...thank you again Amy for a great experience and the hospitality. Jaime R.

We had a wonderful time during our stay at Amy's place. We were in town for the weekend with our daughter and her best friend to do a college visit at UofW. The accommodations were perfect for the four of us with the two rooms, great living room and kitchen space for preparing a few of meals in. Loved the design and decor as well. Very clean, and fantastic location to amazing shopping, local coffee shop the university and DT Seattle. We will definitely return!

Amy was the perfect host. She always responded in a timely manner and even checked in on us to make sure we arrived safely. Something you do not always get when traveling. Amy's place we clean, cozy and obviously very well maintained. Overall a great experience with our first ever BNB. Thank you

We had a wonderful time during our stay, and Amy's place was beautiful. It was very spacious, clean and had everything we needed. We did need a parking pass to be able to park but it was no problem, and there was more then enough parking. The location is incredibly convenient and the neighborhood was great! We would definitely stay here again, and suggest it to friends and family!

Though Ame was not home during our visit, she responsed very quickly to all of our questions. Everything we needed to notice was on a printed handout at her kicthen. Great location to UW and bus stations. I'll definitely book her house again when my parents come to visit me next time. Thank you, Amy!

My husband Riley & I are seasoned travelers who also love films, books, cooking, baseball and the outdoors. Riley owns a film-television-video production company, and Amy is an interior designer. Being self-employed entrepreneurs has given us the freedom to pursue an array of personal interests, and to see the world. Although we've traveled to more than 40 countries, our hearts are in the glorious Pacific Northwest, which we feel lucky to call home. Hosting and being guests through Airbnb are among the ways we embrace creating community! We look forward to meeting you.
