A beautiful, open, airy loft space housed within a completely renovated 1926 industrial building. Centrally located on Woodward Avenue, steps away from the Amsterdam stop of the newly-installed QLINE in New Center. Hop on, and be anywhere you'd like in New Center, Midtown, or Downtown in minutes. Relax, you're home.

The space

This is a modern loft apartment housed within a completely renovated 1926 building that originally housed graphic artists for General Motors, and other companies. Designed by famed-Detroit architect Albert Kahn, you'll notice the signature art-deco front-facade and incredible lobby of the building. All the character of the loft is still intact, from the concrete floors, brick exterior wall, and the mushroom columns Albert Kahn was known for. Home includes a large kitchen, front load washer and dryer, incredibly fast internet with wifi and one bedroom with a queen-sized bed. This building is incredibly peaceful, quiet, and relaxing; while being just blocks away from anything you'd want to do in the city.

Kitchen includes gas stove/oven, stainless steel sink, refrigerator, toaster, pots, pans, coffee maker, and any other utensils you need to call Detroit home for a few days.

You'll find a single bedroom (this was originally a studio unit, but has been converted into a completely-walled one bedroom unit). Beautifully comfortable queen bed, small dresser, and chair. The main bathroom includes a subway tile shower/tub, sink, and any towels and amenities you'll need to make your stay perfect. Awesomely comfy white cotton sheets are included in the bedroom.

The living room includes a couch (can be used for extra sleeping space, but isn't a pull-out), coffee table, and two chairs. 50" HDTV is hooked up to an Apple TV with Netflix.

Outdoor space includes a small patio (which you'll enter from) with two bistro chairs and table. Enjoy the sunny back-alley of the building with a drink of your choice from the fridge.

Local spots within walking/biking distance include the incredibly beautiful art-deco Fisher and Albert Kahn buildings; Midtown Shopping (Shinola, Willys, Nora, Hugh, Carhartt, Fellow Barber, City Bird, Nest, and more); the mid-century gardens and campus at Wayne State, and more. Local attractions include the city and public art, Belle Isle with its beaches, waterpark, Albert Kahn designed conservatory and aquarium, and trails. The world is your oyster. Restaurants nearby including fast food, Northern Lights Lounge, Falafill, Dangerously Delicious Pies, City Wings, Motor City Brewing Works, Jolly Pumpkin, and more.

The loft is all yours while you're here. Enjoy, relax, and hang out. I prefer text and AirBnB message for communication.

Guest access

The loft is all yours while you're here. Enjoy, relax, and hang out. Feel free to use the computer monitor and speakers(please be careful). Please leave the bike and anything stored in storage room alone.

Interaction with guests

I prefer text and AirBnB message for communication. I'll be available for any questions or needs most anytime of day, but will be fairly hands-off during your stay, unless I can give recommendations or ideas for things to do. I'm here for you and to make your stay absolutely awesome.

First and foremost, treat our home as if it is yours. Also, we do have neighbors that are incredibly awesome and gracious with us having different people in and out of the unit all the time, but take care to keep volume down at appropriate times, not be on their patio, and be courteous when outside in the alley. AirBnB is a community, and it makes all the difference when you treat it as such.

Do not under any circumstances host others during your stay. Strictly the number of guests on your listing guest count are allowed within our home.

Only smoke outside of the loft and please do not leave litter on the patio.

Please leave the key in the lockbox at all times. Then you'll never have to remember it, and it'll always be right there waiting for you!

Absolutely superb. The kind of place you would live if you moved to Detroit. The apartment was immaculate, with well thought out touches including a pretty decent little sound system, a record player and soft lighting. We enjoyed eating breakfast on the sunny terrace outside and letting the light stream in the apartment. Well equipped kitchen with everything you needed to cook. The concrete building means you can't hear your neighbours (above or next door) so a huge bonus. You are also next to a police station which is great for Secuirty. Easy parking, friendly neighbours, and a wonderful host.

The flat is wonderful, really beautiful, clean and nice to relax in... There's even a record player with a few records out, so you can put motown hits to set the mood for your stay! we didn't get to meet Jesse but he was really easy to get in touch with, responded to questions quickly and gave great recommendations about the city (the guide book on the coffee table is particularly good!) The neighbourhood can seem a little strange at first because it's very quiet and there's a bunch of roadwork nearby but we've left our car on Burroughs for 2 nights without a hitch and walked around or got uber/lyft everywhere without a problem!

Jesse's apartment was perfect for exploring Detroit. The building is amazing, and everything looked exactly as it did in the pictures. The location is ideal for exploring the Cass Corridor and there's loads of space to park nearby.

The apartment was reasonable albeit a bit on the small side. We couldn't get the washing machine working, the fridge contained no choice of drinks as advertised and the host despite amazing reviews was openly rude and hostile after we left because we left in a rush & forgot to put towels in a wash basket. Out of all the places we've stayed we've never left a place with such a sense of overall disappointment. On the upside, the apartment was furnished well and maybe if we'd prepared our exit better we'd have had a better subsequent experience.

Response from Jesse:
Thanks for the review Phil! My response after your departure was completely due to the fact that the loft was left in far worse condition than just not having towels in the laundry basket. That happens a bunch when guests leave, no big deal. It was the trash all over the place, stains on the countertops and tables, standing water all over the bathroom floor and more (as mentioned in my review). The leaving in a rush wasn't my fault, as the checkout time is clearly demonstrated in multiple instances. If I would've known you weren't able to get the washing machine figured out, I could've gladly trouble-shooted too, it works great! Drinks in the fridge isn't something guaranteed or advertised, I just mention that if guests see something in the fridge (I do often have it stocked with beer and water), they're welcome to indulge. On this particular occasion, I hadn't used my office in a couple of weeks and therefore the fridge had been pretty well cleaned out. I wish you the very best of luck on the rest of your journey and hope you'll have better, less disappointing experiences. We'll do our best to learn on our side as well and keep expectations in check on both sides. Cheers!

We loved our stay at Jesse's place! It was located in a convenient area, with many shops and restaurants nearby. We loved the mid-century charm. I was staying in the area of the Detroit Marathon and it was nice to have a cozy place to stay before and after the race.

We had a great time staying in this beautiful and well situated loft. Jesse was great to work with and communicated clearly. The cleaning and other fees added about $100 to our stay so consider that in addition to the base price. Lovely comfortable apartment and worth every penny.

We had an fantastic time! We enjoyed spending time in the loft as much as we enjoyed exploring the city. So many great features in the apartment to love like the outdoor patio and awesome reading materials. Check out the Detroit field guide book! The neighborhood is quiet and very accessible. Street parking was super convenient and free. We had no concerns about safety staying there. We are already planning our next trip back!
