Other things to note

Our stay with Roberto was exactly what we hoped for. The room was all that we needed.....quiet, comfortable and big bed, clean. The shared bathrooms were clean as well. We loved the location because it was slightly outside the crazy tourist areas that we did not want to stay at anyways but also very walkable to everything that you want to see in Venice, maybe 15 minutes to marco square. The Main Street near his home had some great restaurants and the park was beautiful as well. Roberto was a great host and though we never met him, he was very available for questions and tips to help us. The lady who cleaned (maybe his mother??) was so sweet!! We would certainly stay here again.

From Marco Polo airport we took a waterbus to the Arsenale stop in Venice, from which Roberto's place was about a 10 minute walk. The apartment is in a nice, secluded area of Venice that is hidden away from most of the tourists (this was nice as we were here in June--St. Mark's square and surrounding areas were packed), but still within walking distance of the city's sights. We arrived to the island a bit earlier than expected and messaged Roberto to see if we could check in an hour early. He did not reply, but we weren't really bothered as we just sat down at a cafe and had an espresso until noon. We walked to the apartment and rang the bell, and Roberto opened the door and led us to our space. He gave us the run down of the apartment and showed us the common space. We found our room and bathrooms to be very clean and well-maintained. The A/C in the room did not work very well, but we found this to be common throughout Italy. The room was cool enough with the windows open at night and the street below was very quiet. The wifi worked well, but the wifi password was only available on Roberto's Airbnb profile. This worked out for us as we have free data abroad, but if you don't have a data plan be sure to write this down before your trip. The bathrooms were clean and had beautiful marble walls and plenty of shampoo/soaps. There was a washer, but we did not use it (it looked to be in good condition). Roberto e-mailed us sight-seeing/restaurant tips, but not until late in the day (and this was our only full day in Venice). We left around noon the next day, and stored our bags in the front hallway after check out time. We weren't sure if this was okay as we tried knocking on Roberto's door and calling him with no response (we simply took the front door key and left the room key). We are pretty self-sufficient travelers, so these communication issues weren't a big deal for us. We were content with the nice, clean, safe place to stay, so Roberto just being there to let us in and give us the keys was sufficient. If you're looking for more of a hands-on host you may want to check out other places.

Roberto's place is located in a quiet street near the canal, walking distance to boats, and centrally situated in Biennale! Our flight was delayed and we arrived close to 1am in the morning, but Roberto still waited and welcomed us, really appreciated. Room was neat and bed was really big even for two. Two shared bathrooms very tidy. We had a lovely time at Roberto's, would highly recommend to anyone traveling to Venice

Roberto was a great host! He was so accommodating with our late arrival and letting us keep our luggage in the apartment until the end of the day, after we had already checked out, so we would not have to take it everywhere with us while we went to museums and saw the sites before leaving that evening. Also, his responses to all of my messages, even prior to the trip, were very fast and thorough. The room we were in was a bit smaller than expected, but still had everything we needed. Roberto was very helpful throughout the whole process and we had a nice stay!

We really enjoyed the location of Roberto's place. It was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Roberto was really good at communicating with us prior to our arrival and gave us directions on the best way to get to his place using public transport. We were a little disappointed with the breakfast provided, it was very basic and we opted to go out for breakfast on the second morning. Overall a comfortable stay in a great area.

The accommodation provided what we needed: a room to stay for a night in Venice. It was adequately clean, but do note that the rooms seem smaller than suggested by the photos ( to me and my wife anyway). It's our first time in Venice so we don't have much to compare against but it could just be the general size of rooms in typical Venice apartments.
