My family and I spent an amazing two weeks in Ginerva's beautiful apartment. Gurardiagrele is a beautiful ancient (older than Rome) hillside town that is largely free of tourists. We visited mid June and upon leaving we realized that we hadn't heard anyone (aside from ourselves) speaking English. People from the town were very welcoming and we were able to make friends and integrate ourselves into life much easier than we ever could have in a more touristy area. A short drive from the national park and mountains, and also from the sea, Gurardiagrele is an ideal home base for exploring Abruzzo.
The apartment is beautiful, clean, and spacious. It was impeccably renovated, and gave us (four adults and one child) plenty of privacy. The location across from the church and main square is ideal.
Ginerva and her family were very warm and welcoming, driving out from Rome to welcome us and giving us fresh bread homemade olive oil from their farm as a present. I highly recommend staying here.
