Nestled in a high mountain meadow just above the New River, this 750 square foot cabin has plenty of amenities and nearly 20 acres for your own private Idaho...there are marked and cleared hiking trails...look for the entrance post to the left "1285." NOTE: GPS systems are sending people to the coordinates of the cabin and not the entrance road. Always come in via NC-16--John Halsey-Weavers Ford-East Weavers Ford.

The space
Cozy and quiet...the New River is just over the ridge. One queen in the bedroom and a Queen bed in the great room, plus an inflatable Queen (stored in the bedroom closet with pump)...DVD Player (VHS player is finicky but works).

During the height of the season there are campers, tubers and canoers all along the river...everyone enjoying being outside! We are located 2.3 miles (7 minutes drive) from two canoe outfitters!!! (See below in Getting Around) And not too far from the best of Ashe County (south) or Grayson Highlands State Park in VA (north and west of us).

We love living in Ashe County, NC. I have a Christmas Wreath business and serve as a host for local TV shows and podcasts that highlight the history of the NC High Country region on Germainmedia. I love to hike out at the Grove Cabin, paint (oils), and to plant things and watch them grow (the property around the cabin is my biggest canvas)...I also develop courses and teach online at the Teacher Education Institute.
