A tour around

Very famous is the description of the valley made between first and second centuries AD Pliny the Younger (61-113) in a letter to his friend Apollinaris. Pliny had his own favorite villa in the Tiber Valley and so describes the landscape:
"The appearance of the country is beautiful: imagine a huge amphitheater which only nature can create it .... '

The residence at the gates of the City of Castle enjoys a beautiful view overlooking the Upper Tiber Valley.
The attractions are many, finding the location at the crossroads between Umbria, Tuscany and Marche:

- Città di Castello, (5 min.), Cited by the 'Italian Touring Club' among PLACES CAPTIVE of 2015, for its historical center and renaissance for the two museums 'Alberto Burri', one of which the 'squeegee', defined one 'spectacular example of contemporary art and industrial archeology'.

- Sansepolcro (AR) (15 min.), Birthplace of the Renaissance artist Piero della Francesca, where you can admire works as the Polyptych of Mercy (phone number hidden)) at the Civic Museum of Sansepolcro or 'the Madonna del Parto' in nearby Monterchi (AR).

- A few minutes drive you can also visit the medieval Montone (PG), Monte Santa Maria Tiberina (PG), Anghiari (AR).

- A 30-minute drive you can visit Perugia, which the American writer Henry James wrote: "Maybe I'll do a favor by telling the reader how it will spend a week in Perugia. His first care will not be in a hurry, walking everywhere very slowly and aimlessly and to observe all things that his eyes meet. »

Even a 30-minute drive away is the town of Arezzo where to visit for example:
The Cathedral, the Gothic church contains the tomb of Pope Gregory X, XIV century, the Cenotaph Tarlati, the fresco of Mary Magdalene by Piero della Francesca and the windows by Guillaume de Marcillat.
The Church of San Domenico: founded in 1275 and finished at the beginning of the fourteenth century. There is exposed the wooden crucifix by Cimabue.
The Basilica of San Francesco: The Bacci Chapel contains the fresco The Legend of the True Cross, Piero della Francesca.

- Less than an hour we find the charming Spello, the mystical Assisi, the city of St. Francis, with its superb panoramic Montefalco Sagrantino, Lake Trasimeno with Isola Maggiore and Polvese Island, the scenic waterfall Marmore .

We had a very nice week in Citta di Castello. The welcome was good and the house is very complete. The swimming pool is big, clean and very welcome in the hot summers. Citta di Castello is a nice city and the distance to the main attractions in the region is fine.

This house exceeded our expectations. It was our first Airbnb trip. The place is wonderful as the People (Vincenzo and his grandson Gregorio). The interior is basic but stylefull. The utilities sufficiënt and the outdoor kitchen and pizza woodoven a dream. Vincenzo resupplies it with wood daily and maintains the beautiful swimming pool when we're still sleeping. A supermarket is at 3km and Cortona and Arezzo at a hour drive. The house is located at a Hill with beautiful view. The house does not have airco but that is not necessary. It stays cool during the day and the evenings outside are not humidely hot. Super to stay at for weeks!!

We had the most warm welcome by the hosts, who met us at an easy location just on the edge of town and guided us up to the villa. It was better than the pictures. Beautifull house in a beautifull secluded location some kilometers outside the city. We loved it and spent most of our week by the lovely pool. The town is not within walking distance, but there is a restaurant near by. I would recommend anytime and we will absolutely be coming back. A true gem with the best hosts you can imagine.

Szczerze polecam ten dom. Byliśmy w 2 rodziny i wszyscy mamy podobne odczucia.
