We loved Dexters apartment! We struggled with getting into the key box on the outside of the building (we had the right code but just couldn't get it) however Dexter was very quick to come straight out and let us in. The Neighbourhood was a little rough but nothing so bad, and with a group it's fine. The apartment is literally 2 mins walk from the subway with really easy access into the city which was great. There were lots of convenience stores etc close to the apartment building which was good too. The actual apartment itself was gorgeous, so well kept and clean, really spacious too. We had a wonderful stay with Dexter and would love to return some day.

Dexter's was a very cute little place to stay. Easy to find right off of the subway. Dexter and his roommates were so nice, knowledgeable, and very accommodating. The only hitch we had was the wifi kept disconnecting form our devices. We would definitely recommend the stay here if you are looking to have a good time in NYC that is affordable and pleasant.

Really accurate in its description, most people said it was cold in the basement but for me it was a little too warm in the mornings. It is about half a block down the street to catch the subway which was pretty amazing with a convenience store right around the corner. The place was extremely clean and pretty to just look at haha. The outside wasn't all that awesome to look at but it was something I expected from the city being so small and it's something that did not bother me. Would gladly book again!

The apartment was clean, safe and comfortable. Sharing a bathroom with other guests was no problem at all. The apartment is close to the station, however I felt too unsafe to walk to the station alone (fine with another person), as it is not a very nice area. Dexter was very friendly. The wifi did not reach to our bedroom (room 3) which was annoying. The shower was fine, however no where to hang clothes and towel. Overall I would recommend staying at this airbnb, really good value for money!

It is definitely run like a hostel - which was great! We stayed in the basement room with 2 full beds and a bathroom right outside our door. Everything was clean and welcoming and Dexter was awesome at communicating with us through check-in. You might bring a small fan for sleeping - as it gets a little hot downstairs. And beware of waking the guest staying on the futon in the basement - I'm sure we drove him crazy with 4 people getting ready beside his space (separated by a curtain). Overall, great place and we would all come back!

My name's Dexter. I am a visual artist living and working in Brooklyn. I grew up in The Bronx with roots to the Dominican Republic. I studied architecture at SUNY Buffalo and Yale School of Architecture. A traveler at heart, I've had the fortune to see places around the world: Mexico City and Antwerp in Belgium I once called home, while I've made several stops in India, Oaxaca, London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam.
I hope you make this your first stop in NYC.
If so, I'll see you soon!
