The Studio is nestled in a quiet, sunny bush setting at the end of a 400m drive.

The self-contained, separate Studio has a comfy queen bed, fridge, microwave, TV with Freeview and tea/coffee making facilities. There is an electric frypan, dish washing and food storage cupboard on the deck and a rack for clothes drying.

We provide a Continental breakfast with homemade muesli and marmalade and another conserve, bread for toast and a choice of 2 cereals.

The space

The Studio is a quiet get-away for independent travelers providing very good access to Warkworth, ((SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps says between 5 and 7 minutes), Puhoi and Matakana Villages, local beaches and many other attractions. There are a number of art studios and sculpture parks in the area. There is also good access to the beautiful, historic Kaipara Harbour.

Guest access

The Studio is separate and self-contained and guests come and go as they please. It is surrounded by native bush, some of which is accessible to guests - talk with the hosts please.

Interaction with guests

Depending on guests and our availability, we may enjoy a glass of wine or cup of coffee. We will usually be available when guests are staying.

Other things to note

We like to provide guests with some homemade produce for breakfast e.g. homemade muesli and marmalade and at times fruit from the orchard.

We have a 'shared' young dog called Pippi on the property; please reprimand her if she is overly friendly.

Beautiful little place for some time out from the city at a very affordable price. Glenda and Don are great hosts providing everything you need but also leaving to your stay. Lovely setting and plenty to do in and around Warkworth. Pippi the dog is a great welcome party and walking guide too!

We went to the studio for a quiet weekend retreat out of the city. It was perfect, in that it's a no-frills, quiet and relaxing spot, close enough to cafes and restaurants, and the hosts (and their adorable dog) were friendly but left us to our privacy. Despite being small and simple, the studio is homely, and has lovely little touches like homemade conserves and granola for breakfast.

I am a grandmother, gardener, maker of produce, friend, mother, partner, craftswoman and reader.

Don does all upkeep on the property, reads and makes great things with his (noisy) power tools.

We love where we live. We moved here from Waiheke Island which we thought was pretty good but Nikau Retreat is just right for us with its bush, privacy and quiet. We'd love to share it with you for a time.
