It was a little tricky to find, but we settled in really well and had a great night's sleep on our road trip to Sliteres national park. The host kindly provided with some firewood to grill meat and vegetables for dinner. Kitchen is fully equipped, and we were entertained by the singing shower :) The only thing that needs improving is walls' isolation (there are gaps between the outside walls and internal walls), especially for the bedroom next to the toilet. When leaving, we forgot a phone on charger, and the host was quick to contact and tell us - we came back 5-10min later to collect it. Thank you! Jurkalne seems to have an active local community of artists, musicians and environmentalists. There is an old small Catholic church with a cemetery around it, and a newly-planted orchard. Next to the orchard, there is a cultural gathering space, hosting a stage, a number of interesting wooden sculptures/installations in a large wild meadow. Winding away from it, you can follow a marked path towards the sea, ending with a wooden terrace in the shape of a sailing ship, next to which there are wooden steps to the wild beach. We thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful sunset here and went for an evening swim in a refreshing water (temperature probably around +16C).
