As much as you would like.
We enjoy meeting and spending time with new people, and are always up for a drink and a chat.

The neighbourhood

Monsanto was voted the most Portuguese village in Portugal. (wikipedia)

Only 10km from the BOOM SITE. We are a 5 minute drive or beautiful 45min hike to the top of the hill where the views from the castle will take your breath away! There are bars, cafe's and restaurants in and on the way to Monsanto.

Otherwise the area of the campsite is surrounded by countryside and not much noise besides the singing of birds and running water in the river.

Getting around

Please take the time to look at the map and information provided, as our project can be difficult to find.

From Monsanto, drive down the hill to Relva and turn right for Eugenia, turn right again at the bottom of the hill and drive through Devesa, take a left turn for Torre and follow the signs to NS Azenha (keep left at the white house on the road with the high walls), turn left after the river crossing {there a sign for pep}and before the end of the tarmac road. drive until the parking sign

Fantastic place, very basic but has been a great experience to spend a day there. Pep is a very nice person, he is building up a great project all by himself. I suggest to everyone to spend time to pep's place! Will be formative experience!

Had a great time here, very remote and very basic, a work in progress! But the tent was perfect and the hammock even better. There's plenty going on if you want to help out and it's really close to a quite a few interesting villages. Great place to unwind in nature. Good luck with the project!

I was 2 nights in Pep's place. It was a surprising experience, not just because I never did go to Monsanto village but also because I never get to know in person someone who is trying to really be self sufficient. Someone who is trying, with other communities, live in a parallel economic system that we live. On the other way he is learning Portuguese in order to adapt himself a bit in the culture. Kenny, the host, is a very inspiring young men because he is not a theoretical, he is living the idea. The house, the location and the dog...just very very nice. This communities are the future.

My experience is priceless at their camp. They were so kind for me. They picked up to next town by car for me and took me to local festival with their friends. They don't use all lifelines, but I think they spend the amazing time everyday.

If you are after a 5 star hotel, I apologize for your disappointment in advance.

Our facilities are basic, but we offer a friendly, socially inclusive, and relaxed environment, and an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, surrounded by nature in it's many seasonal variations.
