Interaction with guests
During your stay you may run into myself, Zac, Jesse, Trevor, Laura or even other Airbnb guests staying in one of the other rooms. You're free to interact or keep to yourself, whatever floats your boat. There're 4 bedrooms upstairs with one full bathroom and two full bathrooms with two bedrooms downstairs, you're welcome to use the upstairs or downstairs bathrooms just clean up after yourself and leave the bathroom as it was before you used it. This same rule applies to the kitchen. If you decide to cook and use dishes, clean them and put them in the dish washer. Leave the kitchen as it was when you arrived. Also, as a courtesy to the other guests, there is no smoking in the house. For anyone who smokes, there are ashtrays provided both on the back porch and the front porch.
Highland Park is a historic artsy Eastside neighborhood. The house is close to some great bars and restaurants (Highland Park Bowl, ETA,The Greyhound, La Cuevita, Good Girl Dinette) as well as the Highland Theater, which is a art deco theater. There's also several workout studios within walking distance and beautiful nature hiking spots.
Great Location for Public Transit! If you don't have a car during your stay, even better, because your a few feet from the train station. The Highland Park Metro Rail station (Gold Line) is half a block from the house. It's a 15 min train ride to downtown LA (Southbound) with stops in Chinatown, Union Station, and Little Tokyo and its a 15 min train ride to Pasadena (Northbound). You can also take the train to Hollywood and/or Long Beach. I recommend researching where the train goes so can decide where you wanna go during your stay. Its a great way to get around in a city notorious for its traffic. If you're flying in, you can grab the "flyaway bus" from LAX to Union Station ($8 I believe) where you can take the Gold line right to the front door of the house.
Great location for an Automobile! The house is located in a great area of Los Angeles from a freeway standpoint. If you happen to have a car during your stay, you'll mostly use the 110 since its right by the house, but you'll also have access to the 5 and the 134. Being situated close to so many freeways allows you to take alternate routes when traffic is bad. Its about a 20 min drive to Hollywood, 10 min to downtown, 10 min to Dodger stadium, and 10 min to the Rose Bowl.

I (Sam) am an immigration lawyer and social justice advocate from Los Angeles, California. My work is focused in helping the Latino and LGBT communities. My brother Zac is an entrepreneur. We both enjoy traveling and hosting other travelers at our home here in southern California. I love to dance, explore, learn and be creative. My ultimate goal is to make a difference in my community, whether locally or globally. Zac does several things beyond hosting on airbnb, like running a crossfit gym in North Hollywood called Angelino Crossfit. If you're interested in learning more about him, he says to visit his website, zacbaumer and then of course ending with com. Its difficult to share a web address on this site : ). Zac and I are not always around, but the onsite hosts are Laura, Trevor (and their dog Max). They live on the property directly behind the house and are available to help with anything. We want your stay to be as pleasant as possible!
