Great Experience! We cooked dinner 1 night. Used the barbecue and everything we needed in the kitchen to create a fabulous meal. Super clean house which I really appreciate. Lots of towels for showers after hiking and boating for the entire family. Nice views! Private!

The house is just as described. It has awesome views and is in the perfect location, just minutes from Moaning Cavern and Natural Bridges (a must go to). There were some previous reviews about bugs and yeah, at night, when you have the lights on at the house, bugs are attracted outside, but you are in a wooded secluded area, it's to be expected. We saw no bug issue inside the house at all. The house worked well for our party of 5 (3 adults and 2 small children). The walk-in closet off the bathroom on the 2nd floor was so large that our kids wanted to sleep in there which was fine with us so it worked out perfectly. Top floor has plenty of room to accommodate others as well. Highly recommend the house for anyone wanting to visit the area, you will not be disappointed.

We had a great time at The Lookout Tower. The house was clean and a perfect size for a party of 4 with a dog. We enjoyed the patio space around the grill as well as the balcony, watching the sun set over the mountains. The house is located close to Murphys, Angels Camp, and Columbia. We would certainly recommend staying at the house.

Came here with my wife and mother to check out the neighborhood to buy some property, and boy was the towerhouse exactly what we were looking for! The views are insane from the pond/lake to the mountain views to heaven! Just breathtaking. I kept waking up all night and going out to the deck to take in the scenery and air. We're definitely moving to this area now lol.

Bugs, you say? What bugs. I made my reservation with Anna, whom was super accommodating and answered all my questions, fully knowing that I could possibly be staying in a bug infested home for two days. Thankfully, I didn't have to contend with any creepy crawlers during my stay at the Lookout Tower House. Well, one of us spotted a giant ant or two. But it was outside. Does that count? The Lookout Tower House sits in a very secluded locale and requires you to drive up a gravely road. Luckily, we were armed with two Subarus and a Toyota Sienna that has battled more dirt roads than most Jeeps. Oh, we also managed to safely navigate a motorcycle to the top. Who needs four wheels anyways? The house itself appeared plain on the outside but actually felt quite modern and inviting on the inside. It was well furnished and provided us with basic amenities including a closet full of sleeping pads and sleeping bags. Nice. The first floor was composed of a kitchen / dining room area. It contained all the basic kitchen tools to whip up a nice meal and by golly we did. The second floor had a full bathroom and a queen sized bed that was fit for a king. The third floor had two small beds, a pull-out bed and an awesome balcony with a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside. Sweet. To me, the best part was the location of the Lookout Tower House. It was close to Natural Bridges, Columbia for some climbing, and Moaning caverns. It was also far enough from civilization where me and my merry band of hooligans could make as much noise as we wanted. Awesome. Overall, I had an awesome experience with Anna and the Lookout Tower House and I wouldn't mind staying there again.

Anna User ProfileAnna is a superhost.

When contacting us, there are a couple different people who might be responding to you, depending on the day of the week. Myself (Anna), Nikki and Pam all take turns handling correspondence and calls. There are pictures of each of us shown.

I began managing my first vacation rental over 18 years ago while in college. It was a perfect part time job. I could take calls via cell phone, clean the house on Sunday after check-out, and then be ready for school again on Monday. Soon, the Little Yellow Cottage was booked solid, so I started working on a second rental. It wasn't long before other people began to ask me to manage their homes. What had begun as a part-time/temporary job soon turned into a full time endeavor.

I am grateful for this work as it allows me to live in this mountain community where I grew up. I am the third generation of my family to live in Murphys and would be happy to answer any questions you have about the area. When not working, I try to be in the outdoors as much as possible. This might include: hiking, camping, skiing/snowboarding, watersports, etc... In addition, I have done a fair bit of traveling in Central and South America as well as Europe and most recently to Africa. There is nothing like being in a totally new environment- with smells, tastes, and sounds which are foreign to the senses. You will most likely reach me in the evenings or if you are staying at a home and have a problem.

Nikki takes calls midweek from 9-5. Her family has also lived in the Murphys area for several generations, so she is familiar with local attractions and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Before coming to work at Murphys Vacation Rentals she had an adorable gift shop in Avery for years called the Garden Keeper. It specialized in unique gifts and garden related items. Currently, she has a side business selling aromatherapy products in local stores and Farmer's Markets which she hand crafts. "Under the Sun" has a huge line of sunscreens, bug repellant, skin lotions, etc..., many of which are produced using native plants which she harvests.

Pam works on the weekend. She is our Johnny-on-the-spot should you have a problem during your stay. Before moving to Angels Camp Pam lived in Southern California, as well as Colorado, and Texas. Her niece (pictured above) loves spending time with her aunt on her days off. They oftentimes can be found at the lake or local park. Pam also enjoys hiking and can inform you of local trails and lakes.

Please feel free to call us for area information or suggestions to help make your trip to our lovely area the best it can be.
