The space

We will meet and greet you when you arrive and give you a tour of the land and the amenities that are open to you. There is a lush flower and vegetable garden except during the months when the gardens are put to sleep, between December and March. It's like living in a park. Because we are there, we will be sure to provide anything that might be missing upon your request, although the house is well stocked with most everything you could need. We are a quiet couple and prefer quiet guests, although you will feel at home and are free to entertain family and friends with respect to us and our neighbors. This house is not toddler friendly, as we have a medium sized pond and decks and a spiral staircase.

Guest access

Our home is in the south hills with a secluded feel, surrounded by trees, yet only a couple of miles from two great organic grocery stores. It's about ten minutes from downtown, with easy access to both east and west Eugene, and a direct shot down to the middle of town. It is a short easy walk to the Ridgeline trail that crosses the South Hills to Spencer's Butte. It's about a 10 minute drive to the university, and a 20-25 minute drive to the airport.

Interaction with guests

Someone will usually be in the big house to see that our guests needs are met, such as kitchen tools, etc. We are elders and tend to be quiet and private, and like to live surrounded by beauty and a sense of sacredness.

What a nice find in Eugene! We were in town for the Olympic Trials, and wanted a quiet place close to trails. We could not have been more pleased. Nicki and Mark were very accommodating, providing a welcoming environment in a beautiful location. I highly recommend this location for anyone who is looking for a walk in the woods or just a stroll in their wonderful garden. My only regret is that I did not get to know my hosts better!

My parents and I were visiting Eugene for the NCAA track and field champs at UO. We booked quite last minute at Nicki's guest house and were very happy with what we got! It was about a 15 min drive from UO which was very easy. The guest cottage was great for the three of us, I slept on the futon which I found surprisingly comfortable! The garden is absolutely gorgeous. Just being a Nicki's I felt more relaxed and at peace, it was a lovely place to be. We picked delicious raspberries and strawberries every morning which was such a treat. Sitting out in the gazebo in the garden drinking a cup of tea was very enjoyable. Nicki was very helpful and welcoming. I would love to stay again!

There are no words to describe the beauty of Nicki's home. I never wanted to leave, it was pure magical beauty. She is the most gracious host, so caring and I've never been cared for as I was over the last few days. I can't wait to return. THANK YOU!!!

Response from Nicki:
As hosts, we love it when our guests truly appreciate our home and grounds, and Jeff's pleasure was reflected in his care and enjoyment of his time here. It was an equal exchange, as we enjoyed his presence immensely and look forward to his return.

Nicki and Mark are wonderful! We had a wonderful rustic cottage experience in beautiful grounds with walks for hikers very close by. The cozy home is in a very private and picturesque surroundings. Conveniently situated very close to the U of O (We were here for a Ducks game) about 4.5 miles to Autzen Stadium. Nicki and Mark were so helpful and accommodating even offering us the use of their own facilities. They were always there if we needed anything without being intrusive, the perfect balance. If you need a place to relax, get away from the city, to enjoy nature and have all the amenities to have your own little home this is the place to be. The place is larger than the pictures presents. We would definitely stay here again. Best Wishes in your travels, Julie and Nigel

Nicki And Mark were wonderful hosts! So generous to share their beautiful space in the hills! This is definitely a rustic retreat and the photos don't do it justice, gardens, pond, and cottage are so lovely! Quiet and peaceful! I wanted to be able to cook a Canadian Thanksgiving dinner for my U of O student and Nicki and Mark made sure I had everything to accomplish our feast! Distance to the school isn't walkable but close enough to be there in 10 minutes and the best grocery stores "ever" are within a 5 minute drive, definitely worth the drive! The cottage slept 3... 2 in a very comfy queen bed and another on a futon chair. The kitchen had everything we needed and it even came with some food items, really pleasant surprise! Although there isn't a TV there is wireless internet which worked very well. The grounds are quite breath taking and just to sit on the porch with my tea in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening was special! Thank you again so much for a lovely weekend!

Upon arrival we were greeted by Nicki and and Mark giving us a tour of the cottage. The grounds are simply amazing, fruit trees, flowers and vegetable garden what a jewel in the Eugene area. What we enjoyed most was the ambiance, we just couldn't get enough. Nicki was the most gracious host! Making sure we had directions and letting us know about the local amenities. The refrigerator had wonderful treats and fresh fruit. A hidden treasure in the Eugene area! : )

I love living quietly with my husband, Mark, surrounded by beauty. I am an author, spiritual teacher and healer, and have a tour company that leads spiritual tours to Egypt. Our guest house is sometimes used for workshops, retreats, and for visiting family or friends, so it is not always available. We enjoy sharing our space with interesting people with healthy lifestyles, however we tend to keep to ourselves.
