The space

Scone Palace has an exciting and colourful history as one of Scotland's most important stately homes. Fifteen hundred years ago it was the capital of the Picts. In the intervening centuries, it has been the seat of parliaments and the crowning place of the Kings of Scots, including Macbeth and Robert the Bruce. The Palace houses an outstanding collection of antiques, paintings and rare artifacts and the grounds are renowned throughout the world, making the stateley home one of the most popular tourist attractions in both Perth and Scotland.

Poised above the River Tay in Perthshire, Scone Palace overlooks the routes north to the Highlands and east through Strathmore to the coast. The Grampian mountains form a distant backdrop, and across the river stands the city of Perth.

If you fancy dining out, it is only a short 10-minute taxi ride to the centre of Perth where you will find a variety of award
winning restaurants.

Guest facilities include: Comfortable sitting room with magnificent views over the Parks to the river Tay; Fully equipped and spacious dining kitchen suitable for entertaining; TV, DVDs, board games and Wi-Fi facilities; A cook and maid service can also be arranged on request.

Not only is the exterior stunning for our guests at Scone Palace, but the grounds and gardens are also an experience and retreat in themselves. Residents have their own private gardens at Scone seen below along with the entire Estate when the gates are closed to visitors. A relaxing outdoor space to enjoy breakfast, your own afternoon tea or a drink before dinner.

Guests staying at the Balvaird Wing have complimentary tour tickets for Scone Palace during April to October when the Palace is open to the public. Out with those months we can arrange a private tour subject to availability.

We had such an amazing time at Scone Palace - it was a definite highlight of our two week trip in Scotland. In addition to the beautiful palace with its rich history and wonderful guides, the grounds were absolutely lovely and our kids did not want to leave the playground. The most special part of all however was our stay in the beautiful apartment. The rooms were spacious and lovely, and decorated in such a perfect mix of modern comfort and historical touches. The beds were absolutely perfect and the bedding and linens were divine - made for such a good sleep we all slept in! It felt so special to be the only ones on the grounds once the crowds had left, to hang out with the peacocks and the Highland 'coos'. The staff were also all lovely and helpful - we would definitely recommend! Make sure to take advantage of the lovely jams and shortbread! We picked up extra in the gift shop before we left and wished we had purchased more!

I stayed at Scone Palace for four nights with my siblings and their spouses in April 2017. We had an outstanding visit. We are Americans, so its just plain fun to stay in a castle ... I imagine it would be even more fun with a family. The apartment is clean, comfortable and well appointed. The grounds of the Palace are outstanding. We walked for hours through the beautiful gardens and landscapes. Without exception, the Palace employees were friendly, informative and helpful. We especially appreciated the efforts of Shannon, Gwen, Chef Stephen (for a great breakfast) and our personal "direction-giver" Pauline. There was a small issue when we checked-in (during a change in property managers, our reservation was misplaced) but the error was quickly corrected, with apologies all around. This is a great place and I am happy to give it a great recommendation.

Our stay at Scone Palace was unbelievable--what a beautiful, serene place! The rooms are all incredible. Each one has its own special touch and they are decorated impeccably. the sitting room has gorgeous views towards the back palace gardens & the River Tay. The kitchen has gorgeous wood floors and is modern in every way. Our hostess greeted us in a very warm & welcoming manner & then left after giving us a tour of the rooms. The apartment is breathtaking--from the spaciousness of the rooms, to the wonderful hallway with its small arched windows and wooden-beamed ceiling. If you can, stay here. It was the most incredible experience we had in Scotland. (I didn't even begin to mention the rest of the palace, which if course you can tour, and the beautiful grounds with green everywhere and a very fun maze too!). Lovely in every way possible! Hard to give the keys back...:)
