Our motto: Part of the art of living is living with art!
Linda and I built Art House Lofts to have a place to stay when running the Douglas location of LaFontsee Galleries. We also wanted to have a place that people could experience what it’s like to live with art.
We have been running our gallery for over 25 years in Grand Rapids MI and opened in Douglas four years ago. The two buildings were built over the past year and now house LaFontsee Galleries - Douglas each building has two luxury lofts above the galleries.
We have both spent most of our lives working in the art world. We met at an art opening in college; even our vacations include looking at art, architecture, gardens and antiques. We love to travel and have been able to go to some great places. In the future we’re hoping to work a little less and travel a little more. We love Europe and Latin America but lately have been focused on spending time exploring the many corners of the US.
When traveling we like to spend time in a place and get to know the rhythm of the people and the area. Try to feel what it might be like to be local. When eating out we often sit barside, so that we interact with the locals. They always have great tips on where to go, what’s happening and the good local places to eat.
We would have a hard time living without Art, Espresso, Breath, food and wine and this lamp and maybe this thermos.
