If you want to try something completely different, you should try a stay at khan's. Everything is so speciel in a good way. Khan's esthetic and he's artwork is everywhere. You wake up and see new things you didn't see the day before. Many beautiful details in the craftfy house, the nice interior, khan's art there are flying in the threes or is integrated in the outside walls. Khan is a good and interesting artist with a lot on his mind. Ming- one of Khan's imployes- is so sweet and helpful and even though she doesn't speak English she understands a lot.

un unique stay! What a treat to be here with Khanh and family. Wonderful welcoming hosts. Mingh is a lovely fantastic cook! Her noodle bowls are the best I've had. She was so kind as to cater to our vegetarian diet. Kahnh is a charming, generous character of a man. It was a pleasure to meet and interact with his wife and children too! The rooms are simple, rustic and clean. The tree house is brilliant stuff, a bit noisy in the early morning. Thankfully my heart emoticon and I are early risers. 15 minute taxi ride to city center. Flexibility is a good thing- a few times there was a wait to secure a driver to come out to the studio. I am grateful to have this experience, to know Khanh, his work and his family.

It took a while for our driver to find his way to the house especially as there are some roadworks on the main road leading to the house. We were ready to give up and head back to Hanoi town, but suddenly we turned down a small lane in a residential area and there was Khanh and the housekeeper Ming, ready to welcome us and show us the way. A short while later we were at the house and it was just magical. The main house/studio is set in the middle of what seems like a mini jungle with art everywhere, inside and out. There are quite a few different rooms spread out in the garden so you have have a different experience- concrete room on ground level, air conditioned "platform room" up a ladder, a "dungeon" type room in what we thought was a well, a treehouse and the main wooden stilt house/art studio (where we stayed) with a large art filled living area and a separate bed room. Our three kids, 5, 6 and 7 instantly felt at home and it was a feast for all our senses. Khanh is a lovely host- very interesting to talk to, good with the children and instinctively knew when we wanted information from him or wanted to chat and when to give us space. He seemed to magically appear when we needed him and was so kind showing the kids around. It was truly a home away from home for the 2 nights. The housekeeper, Ming, was incredibly sweet and smiley and couldn't do more for us. She almost doubled as a nanny including helping the kids get ready, dashing off on her scooter to get different noodles for breakfast when my kids turned their noses up at the delicious breakfast initially offered (because of the friend shallots) and stood firm with the driver who harassed us and the kids when we were late. It's all very rustic and basic (no aircon- bathroom separate from the main building) and although it doesn't look like the safest place for kids, my three survived and thrived on the sensory appeal of the place - outdoor showers, swings, ladders, watching art in progress, feeding the residential pigeons, playing with the puppy and musical instruments etc. We ended up leaving much later both mornings as we all loved, loved, loved it. As my 5 year old told Khanh: "I want to stay here forever". They'll remember this over any other standard hotel, which is really the whole point of traveling. :)

We only stayed at Khanh's for the night but it was more than we imagined the place to be. My boyfriend and I love art and to be able to fall asleep and wake up surrounded by it, is a dream come true. Traffic noise is shut out by the lush greenery surrounding the house which is such a stress relief after coming back from the night market. Khanh was an amazing host who insisted we sat down with him to have a beer and to listen to him speak about his work and life is just facinating. Been greeted in the morning by their uber cute puppy & we were served breakfast in the morning which was such a lovely gesture and also was called a cab to the airport by them. We regret not spending enough time at this place BUT we will be back!♡
