The house is a pretty workers cottage on the towpath sandwiched between the canal basin and the river Loire on the Loire a Velo cycle track. It is picturesque, comfortable and quiet with the bakery, butcher and épicerie within walking distance.

The space

The cottage is about 60m2 and composes a living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen.

The kitchen overlooks the river Loire whilst the front garden looks out over the port of Marseilles les Aubigny on the canal lateral a la Loire.
We have recently installed a washing machine and improved the wifi signal strength by installing a repeater.
I have ticked cable TV but its really satellite. There are both French and English channels. There is a clothes line but if you need urgent drying I have a dryer at my house next door.

Guest access

There's French and English television, full equipped kitchen, Wifi, bbq.
Breakfast is not included but you will find the essentials in the fridge. You can buy fresh bread and pastries from the baker 50m away. You have the exclusive use of the front garden overlooking the port with table, chairs and barbeque. Many people breakfast or take a sundowner at the table in the garden. Local tourist information and good maps for the region are provided for the duration of your stay.

Interaction with guests

The cottage is available as a whole property.
I live next door at No 5.

Other things to note

This is a quiet rural setting. You will need a car or bike to get around. The village has a good baker and a small grocery shop, tabac and bar combined. You can park your bikes inside the garden.

This accommodation offers comfort, cleanliness and great facilities e.g. washing machine, dishwasher... but far more than anything else is the superb location - photos cannot give the true beauty and tranquillity of the location. The host is excellent, offering support and assistance if needed. We are highly likely to revisit at some stage in the future.

We had a wonderful stay in Marseilles Les aubigny and Nigel was the perfect host. The apartment is just as described and in a beautiful rural location with lovely views of the canal, it's great for walking or cycling in the countryside. The cold carafe of local wine on arrival was the ideal way to be welcomed after a long drive- thanks again Nigel! A thoroughly relaxing stay, we will be back!

What a fantastic time we had at Le Cottage. Nigel and Chantelle made us feel extremely welcome and even took us out on Nigel's boat for an evening, a real highlight of the holiday. The cottage has everything you need and the air conditioning in the lounge was a god send on some of the warmer evenings as well as a dishwasher and washing machine. The cottage overlooks the canal to the front and it was so lovely to sit with a glass of wine and watch the boats go past. It is in a beautiful part of France which I would like to explore more. Nigel is very knowledgable about the area which is great and there is lots of information and maps available in the cottage to help make the most of your stay. I would certainly recommend staying at Le Cottage and I hope that we will be able to go back ourselves in the near future.

Response from Nigel:
Thanks for your generous review. We are proud of our little cottage and have further plans for improvements in the autumn. We will be putting in a DVD player and a small library of French and English DVDs as well as a few CDs. We hope to see you back. Drop me a message if there is anything you feel we can improve on.

A simple but really homely cottage in a calm location between the canal and the river. The house is very well equipped from the French and British TV to the fully kitted out kitchen. Nigel was also eager to make sure we had everything we needed. Also, a lovely welcome from Nigel and Chantal with a glass of wine in the front garden!

A very cosy cottage. Everything was clean and house had everything we needed. A shame that we only stayed one night. Perfect for relaxing and escaping the city for a while. Nigel was very welcoming and a perfect host. After a long road trip to the cottage where we had to spend only night, Nigel arranged a lovely home made dinner for a very low price. Our stay couldn't have been better, will definitely stay again in the future but longer for sure!
