The space

Thank you for looking at our new home! My wife and I have lived in the neighborhood happily for a few years. We are excited (and fortunate) to have been able to buy this condo. And with all this extra space, we could definitely host your group!

For Chicago, our place is gigantic: 2400 square feet on two levels. You'll have plenty of space for your group. The lower level, which accommodates groups of two to six has two bedrooms, a spacious living room and a bathroom. For parties of seven or eight guests, there is an additional bedroom with its own bathroom for two more guests on the main floor. (Parties of six or fewer can include this space in their reservation by requesting a booking for seven guests or by contacting me after the reservation is made, if it is available.)

All bedrooms have a queen-sized bed, dresser, nightstand, full length mirror, closet, DVD player and free WiFi for you to use.

Guest access

You will have access to pretty much everything in our house. This includes wifi, printer, laundry, entertainment system, cooking/serving wares and supplies and a host of appliances. There are also several varieties of coffee and tea (and accouterments) provided with your stay.

Additionally, we have a fully stocked bar with several dozen bottles of various liquor, beer, wine and liqueur. We also have some bar tending staples and even some stuff beyond the basics--let me know if you want a recommendation. Bring along a favorite bottle of your own or leave some cash behind, and we'll call it square.

Interaction with guests

We can interact as much or as little as you would like. I enjoy meeting new people and making new friends, but many of our guests find so much to do in Chicago that we barely see them. Either way is fine--It's your vacation!

Our living room is the house's primary hangout though with the bar, TV, games, videos and PS4. My wife and I will likely be out there for some or all of the evening, and you're welcome to join us!

If we are going out that night (often to a bar, but sometimes to more exotic attractions), you'll probably be invited to join us and our friends. Or we can point you in the direction of our favorite haunts.

The neighbourhood

Honestly, the biggest draw for our neighborhood is that it's relatively quiet, away from the bustle of downtown (read: cheaper and free parking).

Though the Garfield Park Conservatory and Humboldt Park are within walking distance, you will probably take a train into the city for most of your site-seeing. The L-train stop is visible from our house and a convenient layout allows you to enter and exit the station basically right down the street. So, though there's not much in our neighborhood, you are a short trip away from almost everything Chicago has to offer!

If you have any questions about the neighborhood, please let me know. Unfortunately, our area sometimes gets lumped in to conversations about crime in other "west side" areas despite having a lower crime rate than many places in Chicago. None of our guests have ever experienced any crime or safety incidents, but some have been given bad first impressions from cab drivers or others making generalizations about large sections of the city. In the pictures for this listing, I have included a crime incident map compiled by the Chicago PD.

Getting around

We are very close to Chicago's 'L' and a couple of bus stops for easy access into the city. If it's late at night and/or you just don't want to navigate the 'L', we're close enough that a taxi, Uber or Lyft won't be too expensive either.

Other things to note

We have a golden retriever, Bailey. He is as friendly as can be, but people with dog allergies (or phobias) may want to look for other accommodations.

We have a nice, well-maintained house. As long as you treat it with respect (basically don't break/damage/stain anything), we'll be fine. Parties and other events are considered on a case-by-case basis (see below).

A.G. is a very nice host. We spent five nice days in his house. The layout of all things is delicate. The most important is that the price is reasonable. The security of that area is OK. There is also a large lovely dog in his home. It is very comfortable for us to stay in his house.

The house is nice and the "Hosts" were nice but they live in the house and did not give us any privacy. The advertised 3 bedrooms and one of us had to sleep on the couch because there is only 2. When we got back from work A.G. And his wife were watching TV on the couch that one of us had to sleep on and did not have the curtesy to go upstairs and give us our space. We also left a day early and did not get a refund.

Response from A.G.:
Confusing because the "Guests" seemed like nice, professional people. As stated in the listing, in my very first message to you the day after booking and again in person when you arrived, we host groups of all sizes and stripes and have designed our layout and our prices around that flexibility. You are referring to the couch that I made up at no charge after you declined the third bedroom. You stayed 2 nights and left at maybe 6 pm on the third night saying that your work had concluded, and we talked about when you would be back in Chicago. I wish you had expressed your concerns to me at, well, pretty much any point between when we first communicated and when you posted your review.

A.G and Amanda were wonderful hosts!! It was my first time using Airbnb and was great! It was everything that was listed on the site and more! A.G was very gracious and helpful in guiding myself and my two best friends through the city of Chicago. And their place is beautiful and very welcoming! If you find yourself in Chicago, A.G and Amanda's place is the place to be!!

A.G. was a wonderful host. He was accommodating to our needs and requests. Easy going, established clear directions and functionally of the house. Gave us tips about the city and how everything should work. He was very respectful with guest privacy, and helpful all times. W e had a choice to make our own fresh coffee that was provided. We had the basemen all for us.The bedrooms were comfortable with a queen size bed in each room, perfect for four people. The home is cozy, modern and clean. The building is well located, very quiet neighborhood in the city of Chicago. Close by to all places we were interested in going, including our family, friends house that we were visiting. Of course we were driving, but the Chicago transportation is very close if no car. Overall we choose the location for the quietness. To be in driving distance from downtown, and the Chicago nightlife. A.G was very graceful and great host. We definitely would stay with A.G and Amanda again. Thank you so much for all you do. Bailey was a Plus( the dog).
