About this listing
Family friendly 1902 Edwardian top floor flat just blocks to quaint Cole Street, historic Haight, and the museums and meadows of Golden Gate Park and Twin Peaks. ...and a short train ride to ocean beach and downtown shopping and business centers. Save your car rental in this transit/walkers paradise!
Welcome to a top floor flat with light on all sides, a fully equipped kitchen (we are avid cookers), kid/earthquake safety, and a professionally landscaped backyard.
The full home excluding the attic. There's not a lot of closet or drawer space, but we can make some room if requested. Guests may use our washer and dryer (and detergent) located in a laundry cupboard within the flat.
Added highlights: Guitar, ukulele, and melodian (if we didn't take them with us). Car seat for 4 yr old. We also have a community garden plot close by if you like a place to garden or for children to play.
Interaction with guests
We love to meet new people and help them get to know our city. Since we rent the place when traveling, we won't likely see much of you in person, but we're very good email, text, and phone communicators and we'll leave you with plenty of recommendations for off the beaten track activities. Our passions: Eating good food, walking and exploring, art, poetry, music, parks.
It's easy access to all of San Francisco, from beach to bay, downtown to mission, parks to shopping.
Cole Valley itself has a quaint village feel with two blocks of local retail, great restaurants, a top-rated wine bar and famous ice cream shop. Just a few blocks away and you can explore the Haight Ashbury, Twin Peaks, Inner Sunset, and Golden Gate Park. The park has the oldest and best (we think) public playground in the Country and world class museums and activities. We are 1 block from Kezar Stadium track, a great place for a morning or evening run.
Jump on the train to head out to breathtaking ocean beach or hop one of many local buses toward the Presidio and Golden Gate Bridge / Crissy Field.
We're a walkers paradise with a 95/100 score. Transit is among the best in the city. We're steps to the N Judah light rail, a block to the 6, 43, and 71 buses, and a few blocks to the 33 bus. Public transit doesn't get better! Add to that, we have over two dozen car share and scooter share options within a few blocks (you just need to sign up). And if you'd rather cycle, we have three bicycle rental shops within 4 blocks. You won't need a car rental. If you want to get out of town, just grab a carshare or rent for a day.
If you have a car, there is parking 1 block away at Kezar lot (with attendant) for ~$20/day (much less than typical hotels). Note that special events can change the price, so please check in advance if this is an important criteria. :-)
Other things to note
[We are legally permitted as a short term rental with the City of San Francisco and we're fully insured per the city ordinance.]
There are 34 stairs that you'll love to climb. We do it daily but if you have trouble with stairs, you might be better off in a lower unit.
The third bedroom is a children's room with a twin bed that can sleep an adult.
We have had as many as 7 people sleeping in the house, with use of the living room couch and two kids sharing the 3rd bedroom. It works if you all get along well. :-)
Our home is professionally cleaned before guests arrive so it's always spotless and fresh. We use high-quality bed linens and blankets that are reserved for guests only.
We're on the n Judah line, but we have guests often and no one has ever had an issue with sleeping. The master bedroom is as quiet as the garden it faces. STR-(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)
We love our home and ask that you please leave it as well you found it on arrival. The counter and kitchen table are recently refinished wood, so please be gentle.
Please take all shoes off on entry to save our floors and keep the house clean.
Please respect downstairs neighbors and the exclusive use areas of the shared garden.
Please no smoking or hosted parties.
Please no pets.
