I own a large private home in Moab UT. You will stay in the master bedroom with your own private bath (both a shower and whirlpool bathtub). There is a 2 day minimum stay. Ask me for trip assistance; I have explored the area for 14 years. Click on my calendar for seasonal rates.

I make the best homemade bread in Moab if not all of UTAH!

I am about 7 minutes from downtown Moab.

If you want total privacy and not see the owner or other guests, this space isn't going to work for you.

The space

You will have the master bedroom in the house with a kingsize bed, a private full bath /tub and shower, TV and access to a shared kitchen and living room.

Please NOTE that I am a shoeless house. You can wear slippers, socks, or other shoes in the house; that just keeps the house cleaner.

The kitchen is shared with me and any guests staying downstairs in my other listing: "Adventures Await".

I'll put some eggs in the fridge for you to cook and Home Made bread for toast and some instant oatmeal and fruit bars in the cupboard -- soy or coconut milk. You can make tea or have coffee (you will have to make it; I am not a coffee drinker)

There is a full kitchen, living room, backyard, garden to nibble on (in season). Just a chance to kick back and take a break and actually relax.

I am retired, but have a couple of part-time jobs or I might be out hiking or biking; so come and go as you need.

I have rescue dogs: Odie and Sadie and they will greet you. They are super mellow dogs and love attention. (Sadie probably won't even get off my bed, but she will introduce herself at some time.)

What do I have at my little house: washer, dryer, microwave, WIFI, NetFlix and Amazon Prime (no regular TV), my kitchen, living room, common bath on the first floor, patio, backyard with fire pit, air conditioning, a quiet neighborhood, on street parking, fireplace (see pictures and reviews)

If you want to use the kitchen you access to all the pots and pans, dishes etc that is in the kitchen. Just clean up your dishes by washing them yourselves or rinsing them and putting them in the dishwasher. You will share these common spaces with the owner and possibly guests staying in Adventures Await (and other listing on Airbnb)

I have snacks for you that can be eaten in the house.

Guest access

There is a touch pad on the front door so you can get into the house. After your reservation is made I will send you the code to access that door.

I will have snacks for you , maps and trip information, and space in the kitchen, both the refrigerator and cupboards. I will send you various planning documents for your trip to Moab prior to your arrival.

Interaction with guests

Since we share common space and a common entrance, we will have to speak with each other. If you are looking for total privacy this space probably isn't for you.

I will interact with you as much as you like. I have maps, recommendations for hikes, bicycling, site seeing, etc. I have been hiking this country for the past 13 years. everyday so I know of a lot of things to do based on your abilities.

About Moab: Mother Nature doesn't take prisoners in the Moab country. Enjoy this country but be prepared: water, hats, sunscreen, food, common sense and all that stuff your MOM always told you to do.

I have extra water bottles, may be a pack and things like that to use if you don't have one.

If you want I will teach you the card game "golf" and "Hollywood Rummy".

Other things to note

My business license does not allow people pulling trailers to stay in the neighborhood. Please park in front of my house.

There is a keypad on the front door. After the reservation is made I will send you the door code. I may not be here when you arrive. I am "retired" but have a couple of part-time jobs or I may be out hiking, or biking, etc). There is a pad and pen on the kitchen counter. Leave me a note that you have arrived so I won't worry. Have question leave me a note and I will get back to you.

How would you expect me to behave at your home?

If you have children under the age of 18 you cannot leave them in the house unattended. If the minor child or children are left here then an adult needs to be here to supervise them and be responsible.

Leave your shoes at the door. That keeps the place cleaner. You can bring slippers or socks or inside shoes.

No loud music after 10:00 -- time to settle in.

No smoking in or outside the house no exceptions.

Ask if you have questions. If you break it tell me just don't walk away.

Close the shower door tight in the basement. That sounds like a no brained doesn't it.

I have two dogs so no pets of any kind, they love attention.

Recycling is in the garage. There is a bucket on the back porch to put in vegetable scraps for the compost pile behind the house.

You can use ice from the refrigerator for a cold beverage or for your water bottle, but ice isn't for your ice chest or cooler.

Put your trash in the garbage cans in the house.

Put things back where you find them. You cannot move the couches or beds without permission from the owner.

Turn out the lights in you room or area when you leave.

The downstairs great room (adventures await) is a common area for guests and the owner (where the couches and TV are located). Please put all your belongings in the two bedrooms and not this area. You can use this common area, but it is not yours exclusively.

Wait your turn in the kitchen. Some guests will want to cook a meal. If someone is preparing a meal ask if you can use space or when they will be done. Be courteous and play nicely together. You are responsible to clean your dishes and keep the space clean.

Don't assume you can eat the owner's or another guests food just because it is there. Ask for permission. The owner will tell you what you can or cannot eat or use when he walks you through the house.

I can't believe i am writing a rule for our homemade bread... but here goes: If bread is baked you can eat the bread, but the bread isn't for sandwiches for tour outings. Bread is to be used by guests in the house. It is great bread.

Food -- I will have space in my refrigerator for perishables and there will be a shelf designated for your dry goods. Please try to keep your food out of the bedrooms.

Sam was away for our arrival but his housemate made us very welcome. Sam's home is very comfortable and he generously provides all we needed and more. He is a font of local knowledge and has a lovely sense of humour too. He has two gorgeous affectionate dogs who also made us very welcome. I am sorry we didn't stay longer. Only minutes from central Moab and very handy for all the parks.

Sam has a lovely home and two beautiful (and very friendly) dogs - his recommendation for hikes and restaurants were very helpful and we really enjoyed our visit - our only complaint would be that we didn't stay longer. We hope to return again very soon.

Staying with Sam was a real treat! His home is lovely and the bedroom with en-suite was clean and comfortable and very pleasant to stay in with a huge comfortable bed. Sam made us so welcome and his extensive knowledge of the surrounding area made our visit to the nearby National Parks so much more enjoyable. The bonus was visiting other local areas that he told us about as well as hiking with him when taking his two gorgeous dogs for their walk. If you are heading to Moab stay with Sam!

Sam is the perfect example of exactly why Air BnB is so good. If you ever get the opportunity to stay with him grab it with both hands as we had the best time. Sam is so much fun to hang out with and so knowledgable about Moab. We just loved our three nights with him and hope to return for more in the future. Everything was perfect.

My wife and I came to Moab to visit the parks. We are experienced airbnb guests. Sam' s place and Sam himself are pretty much as good as it gets. Everything was perfect.

This is a beautifully designed and perfectly maintained ranch house in a quiet up-scale suburban Moab community, yet just a few minutes from the center of town. It had every amenity and was spotlessly clean. We had the master bedroom with a bright and sunny private bath, which even had a jacuzzi jet tub as well as a separate shower. Excellent king size bed with top qrade linen and bed covers. There was a lovely garden with a gazebo and high quality garden furniture and a gas grill for cooking. Our host, Sam, was very knowledgeable about the area and shared lots of suggestions. Best of all was that he made fresh bread every day for us, which was delicious. The house is well located for excursions to Arches NP to the north, about 15 minutes; Canyon-land NP to the west; Colorado River Scenic By-way and Hauer Ranch for horse back riding, to the east; Bears Ears NMonument and San Juan River rafting, to the south. We had a great time and highly recommend Sam's place. Bruce and Myra, Potomac, MD.

I have lived in Moab for the past 14 years. I am an avid hiker and road bicycle rider. Hunting ruins (Anasazi) is a passion with me. It just connects we with the past. Those people were no different than you and them -- 8,000 years ago.

If you want advice about what to see and do in coming in and while in Moab I think I have some pretty good insight.

I make the best bread in MOAB for my guests.

I am an amateur photographer; well a point and shoot kind of guy, but how can you screw up when you live in Moab with pictures?

So is there anything unique about me other than I am 6' 9" tall? Just your average giant living in a small town :)

I have seen a lot of foreigners just want a place to relax, cook some of their country's own food and just rest...not caught up in the motel life. So my house has always been a respite for weary travelers.

Where ever I travel there are usually 100s or 1000s of tourists. Besides the "tourist spots" in Moab let me recommend 6-10 hikes where you might be entirely alone or very few others for a day.

Traveling: My children and I plan a trip every couple of years. We have been to Barbados, Dominican Republic, Virgin Islands, Cancun, and Belize. I have traveled to Nanjing China and Bravaria in Germany.
