Neighbourhood highlights

Tonbridge is an ancient town built around a Norman castle. It is 40 minutes by train from Central London. Our house is a couple of minutes walk from The Nelson Arms, a traditional English pub serving Sunday dinners, and with music every Friday. The local corner shop is 2 minutes walk from our house. Supermarkets and a range of restaurants can be found on the High Street, 10 minutes walk from the house. The River Medway runs through the town, offering boat rides and rowing boats for hire. There is a lovely big park from where one can walk or cycle right out into the countryside to see Oast Houses and enjoy pub meals in small villages. The town boasts a miniature railway and a swimming pool complex comprising both indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, jacuzzi and turkish bath (baths not operating normally now due to Covid19). Bikes are available to hire in the town or at the station, or guests may borrow our bikes when not in use. Within 5 miles there are two 18 hole and three 9 hole golf courses. Guests may use our clubs, and Fred will be more than happy to accompany you on a round.

My husband, Fred, and I have enjoyed hosting guests in our home for 6 years. We were inspired to do this after spending 6 months travelling around the world, using Airbnb in USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia and India. We still enjoy holidays, and try to use public transport if possible to reduce our impact on the environment. We have created an illustrated guide to local walks including beautiful countryside, historic sites , and nice pubs and teashops, which can be reached from our front door or directly by public transport. Tonbridge is a small town with a river, nice countryside, and a medieval castle situated in Kent, the 'Garden of England'. Our home is only 10 mins walk from the station, with direct trains to central London, Canterbury, Hastings and Ashford International (for Eurostar) . I like playing badminton. Fred likes playing golf and walking football, and would be happy to play a round on one of the 3 local courses. He is very good at pop quizzes and makes a lot of jokes. We both enjoy music events, and walking or cycling on the many local traffic free paths.
